This fantastic beer is completely its own - not an English, not a Belgian beer, but a beer produced on Aarø - Of course with inspiration from these two fantastic beer cultures.

Mosekule is dark, but not a Stout, not a Porter, but a dark beer where flavor notes of coffee and subtle chocolate are found in the two aforementioned beer types, and where the beers are described as heavy beer.

We have hit the right flavors, and consistency but deliberately not heavy beer. We have a dark beer that can now also be drunk by people who prefer the lighter and sharper beer flavors and in fact it is the light freshness we have hit that appeals to this group of beer drinkers.

For beer drinkers who prefer, "at least initially", dark and heavier beers, Mosekule is innovative when it comes to dark beer - dark beer does not have to be heavy to have aromas, flavors or a slightly creamy consistency, as we know them from Stout, Porter and very dark Ale - the beer can easily be lighter and with a moderate alcohol content, without being weighed too lightly.

Sønderborg, 6/4 2023. 50 cl bottle from Kvickly, Østergade, Middelfart. Green label in Aarø’s usual design with hop plant growing across and a silhouette of the island Aaron.

Pours opaque dark brown with a small white head. Bubbly. Settles as thin patch of foam unable of covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.

Aroma is medium intense with a sweet sugary odor mingling with a tart scent and a light funky touch. Brown sugar and toffee mingling with tart berries. Sour cheese and yeast.

Light carbonation. Thin, oily, soft, almost flat texture.

Flavor is medium intense although a bit watery. Medium strong sweetness followed and balanced by a medium strong tart bitterness. Aftertaste is surprisingly thin.

A bit tart. Finish is thin and rather dry. More tart and fruity than dark and Belgian.
