If you like a round Stout with a good licorice flavor, you will hear the angels singing when you taste this one.
The round body and relatively low bitterness mean that even people who are not Stout lovers can enjoy this beer. The bitterness is on the lower end and the hop flavor is not dominant, but it gives a breath of fresh air to the otherwise heavy beer type.

Svendborg 18/7 2021. 50 cl bottle from Vinoble, Centrumpladsen, Svendborg. Label is indeed H. C. Andersen inspired with pretty cool stylized rendering from “The Ugly Duckling”.
Pours opaque, dark brown with a mid-sized beige head. Settles as thin but consistent layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense and dominated by a sharp, sourish bitter scent mingling with a sugary odor. Lightly toasted malts, sour grains, salty licorice. Hints of brown sugar and caramel.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is fairly intense with a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong sourish bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a sourish undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is candy-like.
Quite heavy and insistent when I take the ABV into account. Sweet but not without a gnawing bitterness.
