This was a gift from the Old Man in June 2025, which was drunk in September of that year.
L: Inky black, with a small, off-white head that quickly fades to a smattering of foam on the top and around the edge of the glass. No bubbles seen.
S: The nose is cocoa, roast, dark chocolate and a smooth vanilla note.
T: The beer is roasty coffee beans forward, with dark chocolate and toffee. The finish has a berry and cola note, but also ends a little sweet and thin right at the back, and that sweet note lingers. Bitterness is low to medium but kicks in with a little more heft retronasally, helping to balance but ultimately being overwhelmed by the residual sweetness.
M: The body of the beer is smooth and full, but the slightly watery finish downgrades things.
O: This is a nice stout that suffers a little from being slightly too sweet at the end. I could probably have a second, but I doubt I'd be able to go back for a third.
Cheers!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
