This beer/brewery gets a bit of a bad rap, in my opinion (could be a few good memories from my years in the Bay Area playing tricks with my taste buds).

Beer pours a slightly watery, somewhat cloudy looking yellow with some orange hues. Small white head that dissolves into some white gobs. Mouthfeel is too thin, but not awful.

Smells of yeast and lemon. There's some wheat in here, but mostly it's hefeweizenish. On a cost per taste ratio, this rates fairly well, though to be fair, it's not nearly as good as I remember. Considering I just packaged it up as an extra in a trade (sorry Jastack!), I hope it is decently well received.

A hazy, yellow-gold colored beer sits underneath and initially one-finger thick, fairly quickly disappearing, pale, off-white colored head. The aroma is lightly tart with notes of green apple, hints of melon and some cracker-like malt. Really the aroma is fairly clean, with the fruitiness being the most distinct note; after the Paulaner Hefe I just drank, this seems pretty lame for a Bavarian Hefe. Let's see what the flavors bring.

Again the beer is tart, with ample notes of wheat & malt. It is quite clean, with perhaps a touch of green apple fruitiness. Really this is just a light, American style wheat beer. Nondescript and just a vehicle for the wheat & malt flavors. It has a light sweetness to it, a touch of grassiness (from both hop and grain perhaps) as well as a very light bitterness. Maybe there is a hint of clove here, which would be the only thing close to the traditional Bavarian wheat beer yeast flavors. Definitely a disappointment & certainly not deserving of the right to put Bavarian Wheat beer on the label, maybe I should have taken this literally that they meant they used a Bavarian strain of wheat for this beer. This is certainly not a bad beer, and I would have enjoyed it a bit more if I had thought I was buying an American style wheat beer.

A dull light haze clouds this practically clear pilsner-colored wheat beer. Not very bold in the foam department. There is a mild citrus tangyness that I found pretty refreshing. It's a tiny bit overhopped to be a traditional wheat beer. The wheat doesn't play a very large role in the grain bill, and I'm not so sure they used a traditional wheat beer yeast, either; it reminds me alot of a lightly hopped pils. Slightly undercarbonated as well, as the sticky sweetness starts to creep up as the beer warms. Pretty avereage all-around, not much of a stand-out, but a good beer anyways. Don't go out of your way. Cheers!

A hazy dull yellow in the glass toped with a two finger white head that melts to top covering lacing pretty quickly. Leaves some maping on the side of the glass, however.

Aroma is corriander and white pepper.

Taste is only sort of Bavarian wheat....just hints of the corriander, pepper and bread you would expect that seems to disappear to almost a soapy aftertaste.

This wasn't horrible...but wasn't anywhere near as complex and bright as a wheat should be.

The incredible optimist in me insists that that I treat this as if it was what it says it is on the bottle. Poured in a Paulaner Weissbier glass it looks the part, a cloudy yellow beer. Except the fact it doesn't for a head.

Smell is about right. Phenolic Weizen beer scents of clove and banana with a little calamine lotion scent.

Taste is semi sweet with a better than expected wheat malt and cloves flavor at the start. Heavier on the cloves than the other flavors I can't say that this lacks in flavor, only complexity.

Mouthfeel is OK.

Not offensive in the least but this is only OK in drinkability. I paid $3 for the bottle at BevMo, but I can Buy Baltika #8 for $1.89. At the Von's in Lompoc I can also Buy Franziskaner for $2.25 a bottle too. WAY better Weissbier that cost less so no cigar for this one.

First time I've seen this offering and for the price of a bomber being very reasonable I picked it up. It forms a loose, fizzy, white head that falls quickly to a thin cover and eventualy a small island. Highly filtered, shiney yellow brew w/ plenty of carbonation.

Kind of an odd take on the style in my opinion. I love Kristallweizen's normally because they are generally smooth, easy drinking, full of bananna, clove and have an amazing appearance. This falls short in every category except this does have hints of bananna that get smashed by some lemon that finishes the beer rather astringent. Nothing too crisp or refreshing about this. The one bright side of the beer is it was consumption worthy and priced accordingly to the quality.

Notes: If this is someone's first sample of this style, please, PLEASE try another, most notably Weihestenphaner but there are others that are excellent as well and pass on this.
