Copenhagen 31/7 2020. 50 cl bottle from Kvickly, Søtorvet, Silkeborg. Dark blue label with a big golden K for Klosterbryg.
Pours hazy, murky amber with a big, stable, fluffy white head. Settles as thin but frothy layer of foam crawling up the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet, sugary odor of caramel and toffee mingling with a light sourness. Brown sugar. Light odor of alcohol which avoids being metallic.
Light carbonation. Thin, soft, oily, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a slightly more moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter leading to a semi-dry finish.
This is not an authentic dubbel reeking of Monastry and industrious Monks. But it is a nice dark beer fairly well-balanced and strong without being boozy.
