Pours a dark dark grapefruit colour, and that was the best bit. Some hop aroma. Some fruitiness, medium mouthfeel. Hoppiness here, however not very complex. Its quaffable in a pinch, but character not very well there. More a homebrew. Decent overall. Volo Cask Fest 2008.

On cask at Volo Cask Days 2008. Double Red ale inspired by Terrapin Big Hoppy Monster according to George the brewer.
Pours a hazy dark reddish amber, orange highlights, thin tan head forms, big bubbles, few lace spots on the glass, settles down to a thin ring. Smell is nice, lots of caramel, very bready, some fruit, oranges and cherries, grains, very malty, quite nice. Taste is similar, heavily caramelized, very bready, pudding, fruity, grains, very malty, balanced finish. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied, very chewy, with low carbonation, goes down smooth for the ABV. Nice experiment, very malty double red, is how its described. Had it a couple days later, and the fruit became quite a bit more apparent.
