this place is awesome, we hit them up on our way back from traquair house, where i dragged the family from edinburgh to complete the pilgrimage to one of the greats, a drive worth making and a lot of fun, but this place is in the small town kind of right before you get to traquair heading from that way, and its a stop worth making. a narrow storefront opens into a quant little beer hall with the bar in the back, no real seating there, tables packed in the space pretty tightly and it was buzzing when we were in, maybe an older building but it felt new inside, somewhat minimal but cozy due to the layout, and down a hallway beyond the bar is a little bit more spacious seating area with a big window into the brewery itself, good use of space in here, definitely happening. they had a nice mix of products here, and although their cask engines were out, they still had a fun list, i was deeply stoked on an earl grey sour, so unexpected, but also dig a hoppy session ale, and think the quality was real good on the few i had time for, although our visit was a little hurried unfortunately. they had some ambitious stuff, some classics, and even a bottled selection from a barrel, but i did not dabble. i liked the energy in the space, the service was fine, they were busy but attentive enough, and this seems like a real locals place. cool to see such crafty beer succeeding here, it really has become a global phenomenon, even if the us craft market is soft right now, places like this make me feel good about the state of it all anyway. a great experience, everything a local brewery should be, and close to traquair so definitely hit them up when you go!
