I love cask-conditioned ale. You have to give credit to English brewers who send their casks to the United States. With only a window of a couple of days of peak flavor, it's pretty bold to send your casks via barge across the Atlantic to be tapped in stateside.
Well, as a result, the quality usually isn't as good. It's understandable, and that is usually the case. But I thought this offering suffered not because it was past it's peak flavor, but that it had some other flaws...
The beer poured a deep amber color. It almost looked like an ESB, and it definitely had the bittering hops to be one as well.
Overall, it was pretty well balanced and clean, but it lacked body. This beer was fermented really dry, and it didn't have the full-bodied sweetness to live up to the hop profile.
It's was pretty drinkable, and it could not been that much more than 4.5% ABV. As a result, it was an easy quaff. I probably wouldn't want more than one though.

This is an excellent fall seasonal from Archers. It is the colour of fall leaves and it has the wonderful aromas of fresh juciy hops, and light background malts. The taste is quite fruity, and subtly malty. The mouthfeel is nice and creamy and the drinkability is "out of this world"!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
