Presentation: Sampled at the Royal Oak, Crick on the way back from the annual Wakefield CAMRA Belgium trip. Archers Give Us A Cue was listed at 4.4% ABV on the typical Archers Pumpclip which had a picture of a Snooker Table and Player on it. Released during the Snooker World Finals held annually in the UK.
Appearance: Golden-yellow body with a creamy white head which stayed at about 1/8 thick throughout but never broke. On form carbonation and a very clear presentation.
Nose: Light grapefruit and a little lemon within pale malt. Fresh nose but the backend is very grainy and spoils it a little.
Taste: Simple tastes, a bitter golden ale which has low strength tastes punctuated by a refreshing citric bitterness which is astringent, grapefruit like almost.
Mouthfeel: Run of the mill, a little thin but not that disappointing, it does what it has to but never anything more than needed.
Drinkability: Nice enough, but I would not go for a second, its just a very average brew that carries no plus points, nothing here to get me to return to it, but the one Pint was pleasant enough.
Overall: Yet another Archers special, I suspect that the myriad and ubiquitous brews from Archers are all variations on a theme. Just another so-so special brew from Archers. Nice enough but nothing special in the end.
