this rules, first i am ever hearing of this brewery, a collaboration with hand brew co, who i also dont think i know, a watermelon gose and a damn good one, draft pour, flamingo pink, light haze indicative of a wheat based beer, airy but short white head, fizzy and excited looking. the nose is obvious watermelon, seems authentic and juicy, not too sweet, and the salt adds a nice dryness to it, light white wheat malt, maybe some raw wheat in this too, hint of lime and lime leaf, summery and fun, a note of rose wine as well, rose petal, floral in a pretty way, fresh. the flavor is cool, a little more to the ferment than i get in the nose, not quite bretty but there is a light funk to this that i love, more than just lactic souring, which is clean and tempered, some citrus to it. watermelon is obvious, even like the rind part, verdant and real, only sweet on the front and, and the grain in here is light but not lost to the fruit, which is tough to do. again a little vinous, a pop of lemon, quite a bit of salt, high minerality, light sulfur thats actually flattering, an almost saison white peppery thing too, rushing refreshing carbonation the whole way. a shame this is the only one i had from these guys while i was overseas, this is really good, really promising, smart and beery gose, not gimmicky or forced, impressive. perfect summer beer, excellent use of watermelon!
