440 ml can, from Seven Cellars. ABV is 4.5%. Reddish brown colour, slightly hazy, moderate off-white head. Aroma of malts and caramel. The flavour is malty and fruity, caramel again but not too sweet. Grapefruity / citric notes, also brown bread. A moderate piney bitterness in the finish.

A 330ml can with a BB of Aug 2018. Purchased a while back from Bison Beer in Brighton. Described on the label as a balanced red ale with fruity notes from the NZ and American hops used in the brewing process. Named in tribute to the former local prison.
A: Poured into a tulip. Can-conditioned. A very hazy reddish-brown colour with tons of fine suspended sediment; carbonation invisible. Yields a huge head of creamy off-white foam that lasts for a while before slowly reducing to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing.
S: Aroma of fruity hops with hints of citrus zest, mild peel, white grape, subtle tropical fruit, vague leafiness, ale yeast, earthiness and caramel malt. Decent enough but lacking in intensity.
T: Tastes of fruity aromatic hops with notes of citrus zest, mild tropical fruit, white grape, a hint of melon, subtle leafiness, ale yeast, earthiness, caramel malt and faint stewed husks. Slightly sweet, followed by a delicate bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with soft carbonation and good body for the strength. Mildly astringent. Aftertaste of fruity aromatic hops, ale yeast, earthiness and mild caramel malt.
O: OK though nothing special. Looks rather murky, with a nice head. Aroma and flavour are a decent blend of fruity hops, ale yeast and understated malt. Good body. Possibly a tad old. Drinkable but no world-beater. Worth trying.
