Tasted recently by a half-pint at Capitol, a JDW pub at Forest Hill, SE London.
A: bright amber hue, coming with an off-white froth that lasts very well; carbonation is low.
S: initially a faintly metallic note follows lively Golding-related hops a swirl brings out a lightly stinky, sulphurous hint. Overall the maltiness is very restrained as the aroma is held back by the tight froth.
T: peach+floral-scented hoppyness comes before Goldings mildly citric taste, then smoothly-textured biscuity malts develop; well-structured and traditional in the flavour profile, while the aftertaste lingers with slightly tannic, chewy, and zesty texture, turning more dryish than bitter in the very end.
M&D: smooth, smooth, smooth on the texture, as if it was poured with the aid of a sparkler, a fact I forgot to pay much attention to; a light-bodied, fair pint of Southern bitter, albeit not interesting at all.
