Cask. No sparkler. Clear light amber. Thin medium frothy head.
Light aroma of green and citrus fruit. Distant caramel noted.
Earthy English hops upon tasting along with a bit of citrus. Some sweetness is addressed with a mildly bitter finish. Nicely balanced flavour.
Soft conditioning if somewhat under carbonated.
Pretty good.

500 ml brown bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Brewed with East Kent Goldings, Fuggles and Cascade hops. Golden to amber colour, moderate white head. Aroma is surprisingly moderate, faint notes of aromatic hops. The hops come through in the flavour though, first some notes of "dusty" EKG, then more pronounced Cascade and Fuggles. A moderate grapefruity bitterness in the aftertaste. Refreshing and reasonably hoppy, not a bad beer, but I would guess the cask version has more going.

L- Mid gold, clear, pours with 3mm white head.
S- Mild, just some bready notes for me.
T- It's gentle, quite mild and rounded with a hint of a rich finish. Hopping is there but restrained. The lable mentions 'a citrus finish', but I'm unable to find that.
M- It's balanced between slightly rich and slightly hoppy; it's easy drinking but making no big statements.
O- Nothing glaringly out of balance here, but not huge on character either - but being an eminently sessionable 4.2% by definition sets limits within a more trad style.
500ml bottle, bought for me from a Waitrose between Brighton and Hove. BBE: Jul-20. The lable has had the redesign updated somewhat, now 'Sussex Gold' in white is the most prominent feature of it. 'Armed with taste - Golden Ale'. Same ABV%4.2.

500 mL brown bottle poured into a pint glass.

Slow pour reveals a beautiful, white, 1.5-finger head. Below sits a golden-brown brew with great clarity--just a tiny touch of cloudiness. Very appetizing! Leaves plenty of lacing upon drinking.

Smells great. Lots of different aromas coming up, very complex and well-balanced.

Taste is refreshing and bitter at the same time. This beer really works. There is a slight citrus taste, but it's not overpowering. More orange than grapefruit, and the hops are there but not too strong. Very well-balanced!

Mouthfeel is relatively light-bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall, a great beer that is very refreshing. I wouldn't turn one of these down in any setting.

I tasted this beer on 12th October 2009 (best before Jun 2010). It was a 500ml bottle with the BB date on the crown cap.
Ingredients listed: malted barley, torrified wheat, brewers yeast and finings, East Kent Goldings, Fuggles and Cascade hops.

This beer poured a clear light copper colour with a lasting pale tan head. There was modest lacing on the glass.
Smell was fresh lively hoppy aroma. The taste was again refreshing with a nice balance of hops and a sweetness as well. There was a citrus finish to this and it made for a very tasty English bitter. I would love to have a pint of this on cask, but it is very good from the bottle.
