I guess the original Old Ale brewery is up in Chilliwack, but they’ve got a full brewery/taproom/restaurant in Abbotsford as well. It’s a really big spot, kind of a cavernous industrial space, and it was really hoppin’ on a Saturday night. I sat at the bar and the staff were super friendly; overall it was a very welcoming place. They have a decent menu, and as seemed appropriate I ordered the “Canadian poutine”, which was poutine with some kinda maple bacon and caramelized onions and stuff on it. It was very savory and very tasty.
As for beer, they had at least 8-10 things on tap. At the bar where I was, there were 8 taps, but I noticed as I left there was another bar way on the other side of the room that looked like the tap list was not identical, so these are just a sampling of the styles: chai spice amber, salted caramel porter, pumpkin spice amber, hazy pale, strawberry smoothie sour, blueberry blonde, Italian pilsner, and a festbier (they were having an Oktoberfest event while I was there). They also have 6 packs and 12 packs to go. I gotta say overall the beer wasn’t incredible. Serviceable, not terrible, but I wouldn’t make it a beer destination. But it seemed like a great place to meet up as a group!
