Mild - an undervalued beer style? Not any more, in a celebration of this classic English style, we've tweaked a traditional recipe from 1920. Overall, it's a rich, malty masterpiece (and that's putting it mildly).

330ml bottle.
L: No sediment evident, despite being bottle conditioned, so poured straight in. Nice, glossy, chestnut colour with lots of carbonation. Thin, off-white head leaves a couple of spots of lacing.
S: Light malt.
T: Very light flavour. Some malt, slightly sweet, herbal aftertaste.
F: Smooth, kind of thin mouthfeel with an almost dry finish. Richness builds by the end of the glass but it’s too little, too late.
O: Nothing special. The rum barrel oak chips are there in the background and, unfortunately, don’t make much difference to a style of beer that’s often labelled as ‘bland’.

L- Quite deep chestnut. Pours with thin white head receding to lacing.
S- Subtle, just some toasty malts.
T- Slow start, builds into good quite deep yet bright toasty malts.
M- It comes over as higher than a 4.5%, there is a good balanced richness to the bright^ slightly zingy malts/feel.
O- Well done Fuller's+Magic Rock, this exceeds my expectations. I don't see much Mild Ale around these days so rarely drink it, which together with a gentler 4.5% ABV didn't set my hopes high. But it's eminently drinkable, and I would buy it in it's own right again. Better still in pint or at least 500ml bottles.
Bought in a Fuller's & Friends from Waitrose. BB: 31/3/2021 330ml bottle.

Bottle conditioned. Collaboration with Magic Rock. Dark amber with a thick frothy head.
Nicely balanced aroma of malt and leafy hops with distant oak. There's a bit of spice too.
Nutty flavour. Demi-sec. Toffee.
Medium body with soft carbonation.
Nothing exciting and the oak chips don't add much. Closer to a brown ale taste.
