Timber Lager

A- More or less red, but I guess one could say it borders on copper. Head was poor (frosted mug probably didn't help).
S- Aroma was really the only weak point for me. Toasted grain and a light amount of hops. Otherwise, not much.
T- Toasted malt, stays more away from caramel flavors than some in style. Hoppiness is noticable. Well balanced. It reminds me of an all around toned down Sam Adams.
M- Carbonation is crisp, maybe a bit too much so. Body is pretty good for style though.
O- A pretty good beer that I'm glad I got to try. Approachable, and I think almost any beer drinker would at least accept this.

Served on tap at Timberlodge in a frosty mug (d'oh). Still, not much of a red lager. Had all of the hops bite of a pale ale, in my opinion (which I like better than Amber's, anyways). Color wasn't that red either. It looked, tasted, smelled, and satisfied my hops craving like a pale. I like it, though, a good concept by a bar that only had macros on tap, otherwise.

This beer is contracted brewed for Timber Lodge Steakhouse; this sample was consumed at the West Omaha location.

Clear, bronze-coppery hue with a small off-white head, it was served at a half inch in height. The retention of the head was fair at best and there was very little subsequent lacing. The nose is pleasant with modest potency that allows notes of toasty, caramel malts and hint of hops. The bouquet is simplistic but inviting. On the palate, there is toasty malt up front that meets with a light bitterness in the middle; the finish is a combination of the two with a hint of caramel, maybe a suggestion of floral too. Clean finish, like a lager should be. It is similar to SA Boston Lager, minus the hoppiness. It is medium/medium-light in body, the carbonation seems a little forced, all in all the mouthfeel is undistinguished but tolerable. This is a decent lager, more flavorful than I expected. Why can Leinenkugel's Red be this tasty or anything else they brew for that matter! Timber Lager is plenty drinkable and a good choice if you’re ever at one of the Timber Lodge locations.
