Amber lager sports a fairly pillowy off-white head. Advertised as a brew that adheres to Reinheitsgebot, and it does have a straight from the hip marzen profile. I've had my fair share of Leinie's, and this is one of their best. But it still doesn't rise to the heights of an authentic Bavarian lager.

12 ounce can poured into a dimpled mug.

L: Deep red/copper, almost clear, two finger khaki head with good retention
S: Spicy and citrus hop aroma to start, getting more bready as it warms
T: Sweet spicy and piney hop flavor, restrained bitterness that rises to the finish, grainy malt, both sweet and toasted, clean finish with a light hoppy aftertaste
F: Light medium body, dry and somewhat crisp, medium carbonation
O: Nice, seems on point, easy drinker

Pours clear and trademark amber. Decent head and retention. Very nice lacing.

Bready and biscuity malts on the nose, but there are definitely some grassy and then some hops in the background.

Very restrained malt sweetness on the tip of the tongue. Some toasted notes arrive in midstream. Then citrus and grass on the end of the drink. Just a bit of metallic tang.

The brew's finish is a little long for the style, I suppose, but still drying at the end of the day.

Decent for the style across the board, but needs some fine-tuning. Maybe a bit sweet. Not special, but solid.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has an amber color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of bready malts, grains. Taste is the same as the aroma, crisp, some hops are present, extremely easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

12oz can enjoy by Dec 16, 2021 into a tall lager glass.
L: Pours a perfectly clear slightly red amber with a 1" light beige head that goes to a skin. Good carbonation and some random lacing.
S: Pungent sweet bread, malts, honey, caramel, lightly floral.
T: Clean vibrant hops, bready caramelized sweet malt, toasty, toffee, citrus zest.
F: Soft and steady med-light bodied mouthfeel with a subtle bright zippiness that actually leads it's taste and flavor components forward. It is lightly dry.
O: This is a brilliant tasting beer. Extremely easy drinking, crisp and well balanced. A great collaboration effort and a beer that is excellent in it's style.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, off-white head of bubbly foam. It left thin rings of lace on the glass. It smelled of toasted malt, caramel, toffee and floral notes. This was so promising, but really just tasted like a watered down Marzen or Festbier. Overall, it tasted of some toasted malt and a mild bitterness.

From a 12oz can:

Appearance: Clear amber, good head.

Smell: Very mild sweetness, vague aroma.

Taste: Mild sweetness and toffee, slick feel, slight bitterness in the finish.

Overall: I've been on a lager kick lately, so tried a six pack of this collab between two big lager brewers. I'm not the biggest amber fan, and this one doesn't impress me too much. Weak aroma, nothing too exciting in the taste, just some mild toffee and a kind of weirdly slick feel.

From a crowler, pours a clear amber color, nice white head, good retention and moderate lacing. Malty aroma and flavor, mild hop bitterness in the finish. Relatively thin, good carbonation.

New recipe? Vienna? Märzen? "American Amber?"

12 ounce can poured into my tall Becher.

L -- Clear, deep amber-gold, cream-colored head that pours dense and sudsy and holds up well. Settles leaving minimal lacing.

S -- Spicy, herbal to earthy hops, light DMS, very light yeastiness.

T -- Herbal hops up front that blend into crackery malts with a backbone of mild stone fruit. Finish is grainy two-row character with herbal, mildly bitter hops in the aftertaste.

M -- Mouthfeel is soft to crisp with a light-medium body.

O -- My vote: American Amber. This beer has a strong Leinie's character of typical grainy malt and a rather spicy hop note with yeasty fermentation flavors.

It reminds me of pub-brewed beers of the '90s and home-brews from the same era. That said, it's highly drinkable and goes down easy like a walk down memory lane.

12oz can. Can bottom is stamped 'DEC0621', for best by date.
Clear, medium amber colored body. Two fingers of off white head. Leaves behind patches and partial layers of lacing.
Aroma is bready malt, that expresses sweet.
Taste is more expressive than the smell. Lightly toasted malt that has caramel, bread, and some honey sweetness. Towards the end the hops come forth with a herbal flavor. Very mild bitterness.
Smooth, medium mouth feel. No real bite. Good carbonation.
Easy drinking lager with a main flavor that is malty with some sweetness, but certainly bready. A beer to drink without much challenge.

Pours a crystal clear amber color. Lightly effervescent. An accidentally aggressive pour resulted in a thick five finger off-white head. Velvety and thick, the head stuck around for a bit before dissipating leaving behind stocky, splotchy lacing and a thin layer of spotty foam on the beer.

Aroma is on the milder side, but there are notes of lightly toasted bread, brioche bread, a touch of honey. Light hops notes come through on the back end - they're a bit earthy, piney, and herbally - too subtle to quite nail it down.

Taste follows the nose with the malts taking the show for the most part - lightly toasted malts, white bread, with a light touch of honey like sweetness. The hops on the back end are lightly bitter with an earthy, lightly spicy note. Very balanced, such that the mild bitterness on the back end is quite pleasant and the beer does not come across as hoppy.

Feel is light to moderately bodied, but still quite crisp. Bright, vibrant carbonation. Quite dry on the back end and through the finish.

Overall this is a really delicious amber lager / vienna type hybrid. Much like their last collaboration, this is a really nice beer and one that I am thoroughly enjoying.

12oz cans best by DEC0621 batch code A5000010855
Look: orange tinted amber body, but more of a transparent dark gold when held to the light. Nice head: fine, tall, slightly off white and hangs on for a while leaving plenty of lacing.
Smell: smells good, bread, sweet malt. but as it warms you get more floral/herbal and micro hint of pine/citrus hops. the aroma is not strong.
Taste: follows the nose, plus a little biscuit and caramel. Just slightly sweet over all, but does have bitter elements especially on the finish. Rather smooth drinking. Doesn't have hardly any bite to it. Balanced beer with hops and malt plus bitter/sweet. Crisp and clean.
Feel: Solid it's not thin or thick. seems to have rather low carbonation shorty after the initial pour.

It has that Leinenkugel flavor. Nothing strong or heavy duty here. I like it, 3.91/5 overall.
