On tap at KSBF '06...
Appears black with brown edges and a small, light beige head that slowly fades out. Spots of lacing are left behind.
Smell is chocolatey, with malt balls, roasty grain, creamy with just a touch of smoke.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas with a chocolate malt presence that tastes enjoyable but not quite as enticing as the aromas.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with hints of the roasty, baker's chocolate coming through in the form of bitterness. The finish was slightly thin but not terrible considering the amount of bitters that are trying to engulf this beer. The smoke was just an afterthought but it wasn't bad with all things aside.
