This is definitely a unique beer in itself for the sole fact that Alley Kat has been commissioned to brew it for the Edmonton-based band Captain Tractor, an old favorite of mine even after I long moved away from the 'Chuck (I now live on top of the hill here in Cowtown that was the inspiration for their song "Up The Hill"). Apparently it is offered at their concerts, and is also available at a handful of establishements in and around Edmonton. A band with their own beer made by one of the finest microbreweries in the province, I like that combination.

I managed to sample some of this stuff on tap at the Druid on Jasper Ave. on a rainy Sunday afternoon. It was served with no head, the body a slightly hazed gold. Grains and fresh grass on the nose. Crisp grain in the flavour at first, rounded out in the middle with banana, nut, and nutmeg esters, with a light grassy hop finish. The mouthfeel was more on the watery side of texture, but average for this style, and very quaffable. Although nothing exceptional regarding the style, it's a decent wheat offering from the Alley Kat line up, and this would make a great patio sessional, or something to drink while watching a great band (the one who commissioned it of course) play. I hope more establishments in Alberta pick this stuff up on tap.
