650ml bottle - the latest in this brewery's one-off, Back Alley Brews series. Wow, the pop culture references just keep on a' comin' today - cuing up some classic 54-40! Let's hope that this puts the "vive" back in "la difference". Yeah.
This beer pours a slightly hazy, pale golden straw colour, with three fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and mildly fizzy eggshell white head, which leaves a few instances of random streaky lace around the glass as it evenly abates.
It smells of cucumber skin, gritty and grainy cereal malt, white saltine crackers, and a faint earthy spiciness. The taste is bready and crackery pale malt, overripe cucumber flesh, saline solution, a bit of soured milkiness, a hint of estery yeast, and some fading coriander spice notes.
The carbonation is fairly active in its palate-pleasing frothiness, the body a so-so medium weight, and essentially smooth, with nothing really eliciting a cause for concern at this particular point in the affair. It finishes off-dry, the malt and green veggie thing working the lingering masses.
Overall - first, what is the deal with all these cucumber beers suddenly appearing? Should I expect 2019 to be all about rhubarb? If so, I can contribute the bounty that grows (and usually goes to waste) behind my garage. Anyways, this is an affable enough version of the style, with the guest ingredient adding its typically watery salad 'character' to the proceedings.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
