With a black color and a roasted taste to tickle your tongue, this beer is perfect to keep your warm this winter. A nice cream colored head with a silky smooth finish, everyone will be asking for more.

I can't rave enough about this beer. Managed to find some in a liquor store in Drumheller at the end of the seasonal run, and could not have been more pleased with the brew.
Other than being a little light on ABV, this is exactly what I look for in a Stout. Beautiful apperance once poured into a glass, and it smell's and tastes terrific.
It's a shame that they don't produce this beer year round, and even more so that it's not available outside of Alberta.

I had ordered another stout, but I watched it come off the board as our waitress was walking to the bar. When she returned to say that my first choice was no longer available I was a bit saddened...however I was assured that 3 Bears was being freshly tapped and that I could have the first pint from the new keg - who am I to argue.
Freshly tapped at Beer Revolution
This beer was a rich looking, solid black. The thinnest reddish highlights when held against the light. Two inches of dense, beige colored head. Foam settled but survived, and left full sheets of lace.
It smells of roasted oatmeal, some milk chocolate, and a touch of smokiness.
The taste is toasted malt, slightly bittersweet chocolate, with a hint of coffee beans. Flavor is all malty goodness. The carbonation level is low, but not flat. Body is smooth and creamy.
Dry finish, slightly earthy hop aftertaste. Easy to drink, flavor-filled, a real winner.

Appearance: Pours black with tan head. Head doesn't retain. The beer looks more "watery" than other stouts.
Smell: Mmmm, roasty and chocolatey. Slight hoppy aroma but it's mostly about the dark, black malts.
Taste: Full-bodied, rich and warming malt. Chocolate, coffee and some nice English-y hops. Very slight vanilla as well.
Mouthfeel: Very slightly over-carbonated. Just barely. It's just a tiny bit too prickly to be to style. I do appreciate the malt and bitterness hitting on all the appropriate parts of the tongue. If the carbonation was brought down a touch, this would be *phenomenal*!
Overall: I'm really glad I purchased this 6-pack. Great roasty, chocolatey flavours. This hits all the tick boxes in my list of favourite stout attributes. The only thing that I would change is the carbonation. That's it!
Great beer! Glad this is available in seasonal 6-packs.

Appearance - Dark black/chocolate brown with thin cream-coloured head. No chance of seeing sunlight through this one.
Smell - Roasted coffee beans and dark chocolate are immediately detected. Sweet-smelling brew.
Taste - The coffee bean and chocolate flavours are mild. Surprised to pick up a roasted/smokey hickory taste towards the finish. Slightly sweet and not too bitter.
Mouthfeel - Smooth, medium-to-heavy bodied. Very little bubbles on the tongue.
Overall - An easy-to-drink stout from Alley Kat. I really liked the hidden flavours in this one, particularly the hickory smokiness. An excellent way to warm up on a cool fall evening.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a schooner. No best before date (which is a bit unusual because Alley Kat often prints them on the neck of the bottles).
A - deep black and solid: no light transmission whatsoever. Fluffy tan head starts at a couple fingers but resolves after a couple minutes leaving some lacing at the edges.
S - nose has some smoke, roasted bread and a bit of caramel.
T - slight initial bitterness resolving into a mix of smoke and roasted malts. A slight spiciness mixed with a hint of a sour fruit in the finish. Overall a little thinner than less concentrated than I would have hoped.
M - quite light mouthfeel with some velvety carbonation.
D - very drinkable with no obvious alcohol.
Overall a decent beer, but not as concentrated as I would have hoped. I'd like a bit more powerful.

Smooth drinking oatmeal stout. Rounding out the edges, this is rich malty without getting to the edges of say St. Ambroise. This can be popular. A bit aggressive on the carbonation, still very good drinkability. Dark brown with a litle lasting white head.
Thanks Boney.

Thanks to boney for the bottle.
Pours dark brown, near black, minimal off white soapy head. Smell is of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, very clean in the nose, some bitter/bittersweet notes are present after a swirl. Taste is roasty, coffee, malty, bittersweet, chocolate, light hops are present here as well. Mouthfeel is nice, medium weight that at times was light, carbonation was slightly high, very smooth and creamy. Very flavourful brew, really good stuff here, I hope they make this again.
