12oz. can poured into flute.
Near black, near opaque, off-white head thick and creamy. Head settles into a thin tan coating.
Aroma is smoky, dark fruits, boozy, bit of bitter cocoa.
Flavor is similar to the aroma. Roasted malts, booze and dark rich fruits. Hint of cinnamon and bitter chocolate.
As smooth as can be, full-bodied and rich. Warming to the tongue and stomach.
Lots of good things going on here. So smooth and full of depth. Rich and great to sip on.

12oz can acquired from the brewery by a friend. Canned 1/19/16. Served in a Creature Comforts stemmed globe.
Pours midnight black with a finger and a half pale tan head. The thin blanket of retention spreads to a fluffy collar that leaves only a few small patches of lace.
Smells roasty and bittersweet. Heavily kilned malts, brown sugar, dark chocolate and cooked caramel.
Taste follows the nose. Roasty malts right up front followed by dark chocolate, seared caramel, toast, brown sugar, a hint of soot and a mild bite of booze.
Creamy, fairly heavy body with moderate carbonation. Bittersweet finish of bakers cocoa, burnt sugar and dark roasted malts.
Creature Comforts and Other Half have teamed up to brew a mighty fine baltic porter. The King's Ransom is a smooth, roasty bittersweet treat that ranks pretty close to some of my favorites on the style. I'd like to see this brewed again and made available outside of the brewery.
