Poured from a 16oz can into a shaker pint

Look: Translucent amber gold with a thick white head

Smell: Juicy and heavy. Very sweet on the nose.

Taste: Mango, grapefruit, and papaya on the attack with a honey covered whole wheat cracker body. The finish is more sweetness with notes of marmalade.

Feel: Big and heavy on the palate. Mild plus bitterness. Alcohol is present but gets covered by sweetness.

Overall: A strange one. It’s all out of balance. The hops don’t do enough to curb the sweetness. It’s fine and drinks we’ll just to all over.

Poured from can into tulip, good 2+ finger cream colored head, good retention and lacing. Amberish golden in the glass, crystal clear to look at. Good citra citrus on the nose, mango, lychee and slight floral. Taste follows the nose, citrus, grapefruit, mango, ripe pineapple, and a slight herbal in the middle. Sweet, yet finishes a tad dry, with a firm bitterness. Nice drinking beer.

Very good head production; absolutely fantastic retention and lacing. Body is lively and golden, surprisingly clear in these days of haze, nearly transparent.

Hoppy and slightly sweet on the nose; it's got a bit of a WC vibe. Ruby red grapefruit, pine, mild dankness, tangerine, white bread, cracker, papaya.

A bit of a curvebball on the palate, as it's simultaneously fizzy and thick and syrupy. Quite resinous, with a stone fruit and papaya hit to the tip of the tongue. Sugary and sweet. Lemon, white grape, honey, clove.

This isn't bad, but it's not what I was expecting, and not really hitting the mark for me.

Can from Canton St Feb 2021

Probably a little too much expected from the offspring of these heavy weights, and I’m sure by some technical definition- a hazy IPA-but it looks like champagne. It drinks like a very mild mannered West Coast IPA and even trends toward Brut or subtle belgian-IPA in some regards. Not really my thing but others may enjoy.

Annual collaboration. 2021 version is with Sierra Nevada. Features Citra & experimental hop HBC 586.

Appearance: Clear, light amber. Fluffy white head with good retention. Fast rising bubbles.

Aroma: Hop forward. Pine/resinous aromas dominate. Laced with citrus notes, but you have to dig for those. Alcohol not noticeable.

Flavor & aftertaste: Very mild alcohol. Resinous and spicy flavors are strong. Aggressive bitterness. Medium sweet malt backbone. Malt flavors are pretty well hidden behind hops flavors and bitterness.

Mouth-feel: Medium astringency. Medium body. Medium palate carbonation. Moderate length finish that is fairly dry. Bitterness builds as you drink and lingers well into the finish.

Overall: This has Sierra Nevada's fingerprints all over it. West Coast IPA enthusiasts will really like it. Interestingly, Creature Comforts/Sierra Nevada readily admitted at the release that they had problems with haze stability. It is advertised as a Hazy Double IPA, yet it turned about brilliant and clear. Much respect to the brewers for putting that out there right away. Unfortunately, this was not one of either of these breweries best efforts. Creature's 2020 collab with Allagash was by far the best in the series and one of the best new beers of 2020 across the country. I am not a big drinker of West Coast and Double/Imperial IPA's, so I did not enjoy this that much. BUT, again if you like these type of IPA's don't hesitate to give it a try. 100% of profits goes toward local community non-profits.
