always good to get my lips on some creature comforts beer. this one is fruit punch red, sneaky strong, and quite delicious and even drinkable for how strong and tart it is, better than most of these because the refinement is high and the body is light, nothing about it is messy, so it stands out. this color is wild, electric fire engine red, just a little hazy, and fizzy but not holding its head too long. the nose is raspberry and cranberry pucker with some sweeter fruitiness from the cherry, bold but it seems like real fruit, some sweetness keeping it balanced, lemony lactic pucker, very little from the grain even with the higher alcohol. simple in some respects, but i like that. the flavor is juicy and entirely fruit driven, acidic but i can still pick out raspberry and cherry easily, cranberry less so, but slightly astringent in that pithy palate way so their presence still makes an impact. some sweetness is welcomed keeping it from being too sour, the body is crazy light, and the carbonation is spirited. i generally like their more wild and funky stuff, not the sharp purely bacterial type sours, but these are hot right now and this is better than what many others are doing in the style. no sign of its strength, not over flavored, and overall pretty tasty. good mix of fruits, a touch candy-like, but i like it nevertheless. i wish i had better access to their beers!
