Appearance: Pours a clear, brown body with some ruby tints at the edges. Medium-sized, near white head. Light lacing.
Smell: Chocolate-caramel in amidst the sweet smelling aroma. Toasted bread, faint backing of roast. Slight tangy fruitiness on the tailend.
Taste: Malty sweet with a resounding caramel plus chocolate taste. Toasted breadcrust. Teensy, weensy background roastiness and nuttiness. Minimal hop character, ultra-low earthy hint with just a bare blip of bitterness finding its way through. A little fruitiness lurking near the finish. Finishes as malty sweet as it kicks off.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: Fairly hefty and soundly malty. It's working rather good on a chilly December evening, but for anything spring or summertime would prefer this to have a bit more levity to it.
