The look, and feel are fine. The smell is strong and pleasant makes me think of brown sugar. The taste is very sweet followed by some butter notes. The taste is so sweet I actually would prefer many beers over this probably even adjunct lagers provided they are chilled.

12 oz bottle in Silver Gate MT near Yellowstone NP.

Lovely dark red - brown body topped by a creamy beige colored head.
Decent retention.
Betty nutty aroma with roasted peanuts as well as mixed roasted tree nuts.
Mild bitterness with strong flavor.
Smooth full body with medium- light carbonation.

I've had this many times in the past few months from fresh bottles.

The appearance is thick, cloudy, deep auburn brown.

The aroma is the crowning jewel of this ale. I've never smelled a beer with this strong of an aroma like this, particularly a brown. Hazelnuts, peanut butter, caramelized bananas, chocolate. Amazing.

The flavor is similar to the aroma. More caramel and nuts, just a touch of chocolate. Not very bitter, and just the right amount sweetness to compliment the flavors.

Heavier in feel than many browns, without just being a light stout.

Overall the best brown I've ever had that wasn't hoppy or exceptionally dark. Really puts the nutty flavor into the nut brown ale.

Initial notes from a beer fest earlier this year. Managed to find some bottles. Was probably buzzed with an overwhelmed palate when I had it, so pardon uncertainty! Will review again from bottle. Just guessing on the numbers for now, will probably modify those as well.

Grassy/leafy aroma? Typical brown ale taste. A bit lighter in body, nice sudsy carbonation. Chocolate?

Presentation- At the Tap Room in a Pint Glass

Appearance- Nice dark brown/copper color

Smell- Roasted Barley and Hazelnut notes, excellent smell

Taste- Nice sweetness to complement the nutty flavor. Almost like a sugar almond flavor

Mouthfeel- Nice carbonation, medium body, with a smooth nutty finish

Drinkability- One of my favorites from this brewery, really nicely done. Easy to drink, nice flavor, and smooth finish.

Growler picked up at the brewery.... We braved 90 minutes of white out blowing snow to get to the taproom in Belt... Glad we did... A lone brewer greeted us in the midst of a nasty storm.

Pours clear deep chestnut... okay lacing and retention.

Nose is nutty and definitely brown with something that I expect is hazelnut extract... it is just tooo nutty to not have extract.

Flavor shows the same... a little malty with a very present hazelnut essence.. very tasty, but seems too much.

Thanks to the homeboy who opened up the brewery in the middle of a blizzard, but we do honestly appreciate it.

08/12/06- Had on tap at the Railyard in Billings, MT.

Presentation- From the tap into a standard pint glass.

Appearance- Copper-dark caramel color pour. Smaller 1/4 inch head leaving behind light lace.

Smell- Extreme toasted caramel malts and very nutty. Can't get a better scent per style. Dead on.

Taste- Like the scent, very nutty with cashews and walnuts coming to mind. Mildly sweet medium toasted malt with a bitter hop bite.

Mouthfeel- Average carbonation and a very large nutty aftertaste.

Drinkability- Fits the style dead on. Could use a touch more sweetness. Otherwise a damn good nut brown. Super impressed on this one.

A: Had on tap at Railyard in Billings. Poured a dark brown color, small head that dissipated quickly, no lacing.
S: Smells very stron of hazelnuts and vanilla flavor.
T: Much the same as smell, very strong flavors of vanilla and nuts. Much stronger taste than most brown ales that I've had before.
M: Carbonation was moderate to heavy
D: Great tasting brown ale, maybe a little over the top sweet but its better to be a little too flavorfull than not enough I guess.
