Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance- The beer is served a deep brown, nearly black color with a tiny head of tan colored foam. The head has a decent level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a good sum of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is super strong of a coffee aroma mixed with a decently big showing of a roasted and toasted bready smell. Along with these smells comes a touch of molasses sweetness and a bit of cocoa and char.
Taste – The taste begins with a toasted malt flavor that has a decently strong showing of a caramel and molasses sweetness. A light coffee flavor persists throughout the taste and makes for a nice background taste. All the while a bit of cocoa and milk chocolate develop on the tongue bringing even more sweetness to the taste. All the while the molasses gets stronger as well and the roasted tastes loss a little bit of ground, to leave one with a rather sweet and moderately roasty taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium in thickness and chewiness with a carbonation level that is rather normal to slightly lower. For the mix of moderately dark and roasty and sweet the feel is pretty good and makes for an approachable but easy drinker overall.
Overall – A decent porter overall being heavier on the sweet and slightly lighter on the roast.
