Resurrection Doppelbock - a complex malt recipe lends flavors reminiscent of raisin, caramel, and licorice that melt into a smooth lager finish. Best served at 48 degrees Fahrenheit. The beer's name and artwork combines the German tradition of using goats on bock labels with Norse mythology. According to lore, two goats pulled the Norse god, Thor's, chariot when he travelled. Each night he would eat the goats and resurrect them the following day with his magic hammer, Mjolnir.

22oz bomber
Appearance - pours with a minimal light brown head with little retention, deep transparent red-brown
Smell - sweet grains and malts up front and wonderful hints of fruit, dark cherries and raisins with a bite of cinnamon and licorice, it is a wonderful aroma
Taste - a bit of front end mild spices quickly balances as mid mouth gives the impression of some hearty breads and the malt sweetness definitely comes out on the back with some of the fruits smelled before.
Mouthfeel - medium bodied with a light carbonation that complements the sweeter flavors.
Overall - Great balance and smooth. This is a flavorful beer that's got a ton of flavors sitting in their rightful place. Don't serve this cold, let it warm up a bit and you'll be rewarded.

Picked up at a random grocery store on my way through Montana. I had never heard of this brewery and they had quite a big selection available so I said why not. I am very surprised to be the first reviewer!!
A - Aggressive pour into a snifter yields a deep, slightly hazy ruby/ garnet with touches of mahogany. Off-white head doesn't amount to a whole lot, and dissipates to a thin layer within a few moments.
S - Sweet dark fruits - raisins/dried black mission figs. Some bready/toasty flavors in there somewhere, but definitely a backseat to the dark fruit. No hops detectable whatsoever.
T - Surprisingly not nearly as sweet as I had anticipated. The roasted malt flavors come through a lot more. Nutty, bready with more subtle hints of sweetness and fruits.
M - a little prickly in the mouth... it leaves an odd sensation on the tip of the tongue. Otherwise smooth, creamy and delectable.
O - I haven't had many doppelbocks, but this is probably the best of those that I have had. Pretty solid brew that was a pleasant surprise. Would definitely purchase again... if I ever found it again.
