The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate with some earthiness and grassiness in he background. The appearance is dark brown with a medium head. The taste is like the aroma a bit on the dry side as expected and a touch of lingering bitterness. The palate is approaching thin but for the style not too far off. Overall this is a prototypical type beer. Good, and few if any faults but still not the best tasting example I have had.

12/25/25 - (Can, Home) (Chicago, IL) Can Notes: Purchased via the Aldi Twelve Days of Beer Fall/Winter 2025 variety twelve pack for $22.14 with tax at the Harwood Heights Aldi on November 7, 2025, and refrigerated until opening this evening. 12 oz canned 9/11/25 (can stamp PKGD 04:091125 1150006614). Dry Stout, 4.2% ABV. Brewed by ABW Virginia Beach LLC in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Appearance: Poured 2/3 of the can into a shaker pint glass to yield a bubbly and slightly creamy tan head that leaves soapy lacing and a creamy cover over most of the dark brown near black base. 4.0
Aroma: Nice roasted malt, caramel and toffee flavors, smells sweet, aroma strength near full and enjoyable. 4.25
Taste: Consistent with the aroma, though with a caramel lead backed by strong enjoyable roasted malt and barley flavor. 3.75
Mouthfeel: Light and easy drinking, body light and watery with sweetness providing an creamy feel adding depth. Sweet but not too and consistent with style expectations. Faint but persistent gentle carbonation, caramel roast malt start to finish. 4.25
Overall: This is a solid beer, consistent with the style, and enjoyable as I only have a little left aggressively drinking and enjoying while compiling this review. One of my favorites of the variety pack, glad I cracked open this Christmas! 4.0
