The aroma is outstanding with chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and caramel. The appearance is dark brown with a medium head. The taste is somewhat like the aroma but has a strange earthiness that borders on dirt. The taste is also astringent in a medicinal way not a hoppy way. There is sweetness but it's more dry than expected. The palate is borderline flat. Overall my hopes were high with the aroma and despite being drinkable it is a let down in palate and taste.

12/28/25 - (Can, Home) (Chicago, IL) Can Notes: Purchased via the Aldi Twelve Days of Beer Fall/Winter 2025 variety twelve pack for $22.14 with tax at the Harwood Heights Aldi on November 7, 2025, and refrigerated until opening this afternoon. 12 oz canned 9/10/25 (can stamp PKGD 04:091025 1459029366). Breakfast Stout with natural flavors, 4.2% ABV. Brewed by ABW Virginia Beach LLC in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Appearance: Poured all but a couple ounces first pour into a shaker pint glass to yield a bubbly darker tan head, leaving minimal clumpy lacing and a thin bubbly creamy cover over most of the dark brown base. 3.75
Aroma: Gingerbread, sugar cookies, cinnamon desert medley. Tried, but could not get the malt base or any other aspect. Aroma strong, pulling me in. 3.75
Taste: Gingerbread leads, with the nice roast malt base also yielding caramel. Broader and more delicious than the aroma. 4.25
Mouthfeel: Light and easy drinking, body medium and light slightly prickly carbonation. Sweet, though hops and roast malt helps balance, Unexpectedly dry. Gingerbread roast malt caramel finish. 4.0
Overall: This is a solid pastry type stout, if you like gingerbread and or a nice roast malt, you'll want to pull this one. 4.0

Damn! Shockingly good for a one-off in the Aldi 12 Days of Beer pack. I was not expecting to be wowed by any of these, especially with multiple of them having around 4% abv.
I’ve been a lurker of Beer Advocate for some time. When seeing this beer hadn’t been rated yet, I had to leave one for others to see.
If by rare chance there’s ever a multi pack of this one, I’ll be buying several!
