I am really working to clear out a swath of my backlog & in so doing, I am running into/up against/ through a buncha CANs for The CANQuest (tm). It is actually heartening to see some of these & drink them up. Cheers!
From the CAN: "Wandering Into The Fog Double India Pale Ale [-] Sabro"; "Double Dry Hopped with Sabro".
I am celebrating Happy New Hockey Year (2021) by watching the Pens/Flowers game on NBCSN while Crack!ing open the vent on this one. Following the Crack!, it was time for a slow, gentle C-Line Glug even though I was aware that clarity was out of the question. Unquestionably, it was given to massive foaming, forming two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with very good retention. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose was everything that they have touted Sabro hops as being/having - peaches & cream, tangerine, woody pine & cedar, mango, papaya, lime and light grapefruit. 8=O Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium, but very soft & smooth in the mouth & on the tongue. Once more, it was very reminiscent of a Julius drink at the mall or a smoothie whipped up at a more modern café. The taste opened with a heavy dose of coconut, then slowly blossomed to reveal a pleasant citrusy bitterness of lime, orange/CANgerine & grapefruit before turning sweeter with notes of peach, papaya & guava. 8=O My long-standing preference is/would be for more bitterness, but I am not CANplaining (too loudly) in this insCANce. Finish was semi-dry on the cusp of semi-sweet. This was quite the revelatory beer as my introduction to this new hop varietal. YMMV.

16oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden orange color with a large, cream-colored head of foam. It left some sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of citrus, pineapple, caramel and floral notes. Sweet toasted caramel taste with tropical fruitiness and a sharp piney bite.

Can dated 6/4/20 into pint glass. Pours a murky burnt orange with a brief off-white head. Initial impression is a hugely pillow-y soft fruit bomb, with notes of tangerine, coconut, citrus, and peach. Mouthfeel is extremely soft. Alcohol is dangerously well hidden. Finish is soft and semi-sweet; very little residual bitterness. Interesting to compare to the Vic Secret variant, which I prefer. But I certainly would seek out WITF Sabro if it were regularly available.
