Rare Fog is a surprisingly smooth 10.5% variant of our fog series, brewed with golden promise and a heavy flaked wheat and oat malt bill. It’s then triple dry-hopped aggressively with Mosaic, Pacific Jade, Citra, Summit and a ridiculous amount of Galaxy. Fluffy, juicy, pillowy and dank.

Pours bright gold color with a 2-3 finger thick foamy white head that was a mix of bubbles of all sizes, fading very slowly and leaving decent lacing. Smells of tangerine, orange peel, mango, candied sugar, buttery biscuit, citrus fruit and a sweetness like malt or cereal drizzled with caramel. Tastes of tangerine, orange juice, Razzles candy, dank citrus hops, Orange Peanut candy, yeast, faint caramel and malty/oat notes. The ABV is noticeable and it’s on the thicker side, but it still manages to feel smooth and go down easier than expected.

Incredibly fluffy, full, juicy and bubbly feel. A beautiful, creamy and slightly orange color to match. Not to mention an aromatic scent with a tasty and sweet, but not too sweet flavor on top of the delicious layers of hops.

From a can Into a beer glass.
Pours like fresh squeezed orange juice, less the pulp. Looks and tastes like it too.
Tropical citrus flavors are strong.
Abundant lacing, even after the head dissipates. A hint of booziness, fairly well masked. Conifer flavors and bitterness are low.
Pillow like mouthfeel, almost like tropical cotton candy. Light-medium bodied.
A great Imperial IPA!

Undated can into pint glass. Pours a very hazy gold with darker overtones. Good lacing. Initial impression is restrained citrus, orange, and a bit of earthy dankness. Mouthfeel is fairly thick and quite smooth. Alcohol is astonishingly well hidden. Finish fades to a slightly sweet citrus. Overall, a good but not memorable DIPA from Abomination.

Poured from 16oz can into my Belvárosi sörfesztivál tulip. No date on the can that I could see.
Appearance: murky yellow-orange hue with a finger of ivory foam atop. Nice!
Smell: quite sweet with a kind of dank tropicality to it, along with some orange peel notes. It's pretty good, but the sweetness is bordering on cloying for me.
Taste: very sweet with a rather richer maltiness than many hazy IPAs (though maybe for a 10.5% triple IPA this is not too unusual). Fruit flavors of passionfruit, orange, and earthy papaya come through for me; maybe even a little apricot in there. Though it is way sweet, the flavoring brings things together better than the aroma.
Mouthfeel: big rich body with a good carbonation. This is a thicc boi.
Overall: this is a sippin' IPA, to be sure. Kind of the opposite of a lot of beers, where the flavor doesn't quite deliver on the aroma's promises -- in this case it's the aroma that falls a bit short. Nevertheless, a solid triple IPA.

Poured a dense, cloudy orange body with large, frothy head that left lace patches down glass. Has a pulpy and citrusy aroma with some floral notes and something like tangerine. Smooth body, but it’s still heavy and a tad boozy, and has a slightly sweet and sticky pine and dank citric flavor that mixes with something like tropical fruits if not at least mango and pineapple. Beer is slow to drink but very enjoyable.

Pours a wicked opaque orange with a massive fluffy head of foam that lasts for ages. Aroma is incredibly pungent. Oranges and mangos for days. This thing is a juicy hop bomb and it is incredibly apparent. Flavor is nectarine and overripe mango for days, just an overwhelming amount of juicy fruit. The upfront sweetness gives way to a nasty dankness and a bitter finish and the fruits quickly shift to a stone fruit character. Tons of nectarine quickly change to orange peel and vegetal flavors. Finish is incredibly long and sticky, ending bittersweet and aggressive. Feel is great. Very smooth and soft, keeping the overall feel in the realm of fruit juice.
Overall, this stuff is the definition of new age stupid IPA. It's all juicy hops but in such an aggressive, overbearing way and everything else gets out of the way. ABV is completely ignored. The flavor profile of this beer is quite common but in this iteration it's so massive that there's nothing that comes close.
I personally prefer the more subtle characteristics of the Motueka variant but the OG is the OG for a reason. In the sea of excessively hopped TIPAs, Rare Fog is a standout.

Look: It pours orange with an slightly off white head. Head retention is excellent.
Smell: It has mango aromas with apricot and orange. There is some pine in support.
Taste: It has mango, orange, and apricot flavors. There are some pine notes and noticeable alcohol in the background.
Feel: It has a medium full body with alochol warming and a slightly harsh finish.
Overall, plenty of flavor and aromas that are juicy with a bit of an edge in the finish.

Pours orange with a murky translucency. Head is two fingers of white foam and good retention. Aroma is thick mango and papaya with a rindy consistency. Lemon zest pokes through, adding some acidity. Alcohol is apparent, despite the density of the hops. Juicy, but dried out at the end due to alcohol. Flavor profile is thick mango, melon, and papaya with rindy orange zest just behind. Alcohol is a little less forward in the flavor than the nose, but it's still apparent. Mouth feel is medium in thickness with a low effervescence that feels flattened out by the weight of the alcohol. Overall, big IPA with loads of tropical fruits. And alcohol.

The label is beautiful and classy, it’s what drew me to pick it up. I then saw the ABV and got really excited. Pours a very murky & cloudy gold. Citrus on the nose. Great flavors of grapefruit, pineapple, mango, and pine. Easy drinking!
