Excellent head production and good retention; very nice lacing. Body is opaque and a rich, dark orange hue, reminiscent of tropical fruit flesh.
Aromatic and hoppy, with tropical notes leading the way, accented by herbal tones and a sweet malt base. Notes of melon, pineapple, papaya, honey, and a hint of tangerine.
Very expressive on the palate, and matching the aroma in intensity - and perhaps exceeding it. An amazing amount of tropical fruit, and a not insubstantial amount of citrus, as well; very lightly herbal. Just amazingly juicy. Papaya, pineapple, melon, mandarin orange, honey, cracker; hints of toasted malt, basil, and parsley; even a strange but not unpleasant chocolate note, possibly from the toasted malt.
Smooth and creamy, but remarkably lively, especially given the ~10% ABV.
This is masterful. There may be little innovative about it in the world of massive NE-style ABVs, but it's executed about as well as anyone. Outside of not being quite as creamy, otherwise if you slapped a Tree House label on this, I doubt many would recognize the deception.
