Fizzy head that almost immediately disappears.
Any hesitation you might have from the appearance is quickly laid to rest. Rich and smooth nose that shows a bit of the alcohol burn, and blending notes of caramel, toffee, and molasses from the malt base with the chocolate, which shows through more prominently than the vanilla.
On the palate, the additives are more prominent than the malt base, inverting the nose. Also different from the nose is the alcohol: quite simply, this doesn't drink with anywhere near the heat you should expect from such a high ABV. It's clearly a potent beer, but it's never aggressive. Super thick and chewy mouthfeel.
Tasting notes include chocolate, vanilla, molasses, toast, caramel, and more chocolate. A LOT of chocolate.
This is an excellent offering in the Midnight Snack series.
