If the traditional brewers of Northern Germany can add syrups to their sour ales to make them smoother, softer and more appealing then so can Abomination Brewing. The additions of strawberry, vanilla bean and marshmallow flavor gives their sour ale a taste of summer any time of year.
Muddy, rusty and mauve, Drippy Popsicle with Strawberry, Vanilla and Marshmallow tops off with an off tarnish creamy froth before teasing the nose with tartness, citrus, cider, wine and cream. Sweeter though with a sense of cereal, jam and sweet cream, the malty-sweet upstart is redolent with taffy, sherbet and cereal.
As a balance of citrus, cider and rose wine offers a sense of balance before the overcast of strawberry brings its smoothie-like intensity to the tastebuds. A rounded taste of vanilla, heavy cream and marshmallow fluff brings the full culmination of a strawberry dreamsicle to life as the session comes to a tangy and tantalizing close.
Finishing briskly tart, the acidity of white wine, green apple, berry and lime win out in the end to bring the session back around to the sour ale basics. An afterglow of sourdough and burlap comes with the berry perfume in brief echoes in aftertaste.
