The smell is delicious with coconut and chocolate right up front. Taste is like a liquid mounds bar. You won't like this if you don't like coconut. There's nice undertones of chocolate as well although the pistachio is light. I don't think that's a bad thing tho as the flavors work well together. It's a sweet beer so we'll see how I feel about it at the end of the bottle. The abv is hidden quite well I think. At over 14% I expected it to be boozy but it's not. I guess the sweetness hides it? This is nice - I like it and would recommend to ppl who like stouts especially sweet ones.

Bottle to snifter.

Look: a little flat looking, full body, thick black, small light brown head.

Aroma : very unique . Cardamom and Pistachio are evident. Coconut and wood also linger.
Taste: super unique flavor. Char. Pistachio, wood. Bourbon finishes late and mellow.

Feel: a little flat and weak, but still smooth, and flaws are understandable for the style.

Tasty and different.

500ml bottle. No dating information found.
Black colored body, with a thin mahogany brown back lit edge. Brief and thin tan colored head. Leaves behind a scattering of small lacing spots.
Aroma is rather tight when chilled, but yields roasted malts, vanilla bourbon, oak and pistachio, black licorice, and cardamon.
Taste is dense and multi-flavored. Sweet and earthy. Flavors of chocolate, bourbon oak cherry, prune, date, earthy spices, pistachio nuts, and a late addition of coffee. Stays spicy, nutty, and earthy chocolate in the aftertaste.
More than medium mouth feel, with a stickiness. No bitterness. Higher ABV% is more in a warming rather than a burn. Quiet carbonation.
Understated but quietly expressive.

Bottle: Poured a black color stout with a small brown foamy head with light retention and lacing. Aroma of pistachio and chocolate with some light bourbon and quite a bit of cardamom. Taste is also a mix of cardamom with some chocolate malt, pistachio and light bourbon. Body is quite full with good carbonation. Interesting but cardamom notes are too strong.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque in the glass with a quarter finger khaki head that dissipates to a thin film with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, sweet cocoa, cardamom and pistachio. Flavor is dark toasted malt, milk chocolate, cardamom, bourbon, pistachio and coconut; somewhat sweet. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess, nice mouth feel. I'm not as excited about dessert stouts any more and actually put off getting this one until the last bottles on the shelf triggered fomo. I've had good experiences with cardamom flavors in stouts and Abomination is a solid brewer, so I grabbed this one and am glad I did. It sounds too busy from the description, but they did a good job balancing the flavors and although cardamom is a dominant flavor, most have melded in to identifiable, but a well integrated whole. The pistachio is the mild, but detectable and and coconut fit in well too. The barrel bourbon is integrated too. This is treatment that seems like it could go wrong, but this is very enjoyable. Glad I got it; well done.

Beer review #2k!!

A: black in the glass, with a small tan head.

S: cardamon, cream, and brown sugar.

T: cardamon, and cinnamon up front with burnt brown sugar. Finish is cream, hint of coconut, and finally coffee., but getting the pistachio, but still darn good.

M: thick with moderate to low carbonation. A spice bite in the finish.

O: overall a delightful stout.

L: Pours a deep, dark black oily brew that is rather flat, with minimal effervescence and no appreciable head. Zero lacing or retention on the top, with exception of some light bubbles drifting up the edge of the glass. Held to the light, this beer has a dark coffee/mocha hue, impenetrable to light.

S: Cardamom and pistachios really add some kick. Some light chocolate, coffee, and char also noticeable. Underwhelming.

T: Exceeded my expectations. Big doses of cardamom and bourbon barrel, as well as chocolate. Some light roasted malts and a smattering of oak from the barrel. The pistachios are more subtle towards the back end, and there is a trace of coconut in the finish. I was not sure how these flavors would mesh but I was pleasantly surprised. It's more spicy than sweet, which elevates the flavor profile immensely.

F: Rich, silky, creamy mouthfeel. A bit sticky and coating. Medium-bodied, with some light carbonation and a bit of hot alcoholic bite in the finish.

O: When purchasing this beer, I took one look at the label and predicted that this beer would either suck or be incredible. That wasn't based on any past experience with this brewer, but rather the eclectic mix of flavors listed on the label. Can happily report that this beer exceeded my expectations. The cardamom dominates, but in a good way. The aromas and look were a bit lacking (somewhat less aromatic than expected and a pretty flat pour), but the flavor and body more than compensated. This beer is worth the purchase.
