This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells chocolatey, with oak, vanilla, roasted malt, a little bit of dark fruit, and caramel.
This is just a down the middle, super competent barrel aged stout. At this age the adjuncts are mild - I get a hint of coconut, and the barrel character, stout base, and chocolate/coffee all sort of meld together. It’s got a super vibrant barrel character – very oaky, some vanilla, caramel, and straight up bourbon, which blends very well with the very chocolatey and roasty base beer.
This is thick, but not syrupy, with some nice barrel heat but nothing intense.
This is just simply enjoyable, a fastball right down the middle of the plate, no fuss, no frills, just really delicious.
