I remember this one poured a light golden color topped with a finger of white foamy head, quickly disappearing.
The smell is very faint, only some malts and grains to be picked up.
Similarly, the taste is weak, watery with a sweet start and only slight bittery feel in the end.
Could do much better.

From my experience wit Yanjing, this review could also pass for all of the other varieties of Yanjing (that right there sums up the company).

Poured from a 1 Liter bottle with a silver foil top into a regular tumbler.

Aroma: some grain, some cereal, not much to speak of.

Appearance: No head (poor pour from waiter), No lacing. Straw color, definitely a macro lager.

Taste: must have missed it.

Drinkability: with such a light flavor yes. Did I want to drink it? Well, it is beer, so technically yes.

Mouthfeel: lightly carbonated.

What a typical lager. Why is it that land of more than 1 billion people seems totally bereft of noteworthy beer?

Wow, an expired Premium Chinese macro lager on the shelves of the local bottleshop. Wrap that baby up. Clear bottle, Chinese characters on the label, 12(deg)P Extra written in Roman script on the label, clearly showing this was not the regular kind. Best before 2/12/2004, my last birthday, printed on the foil covering the cap and neck.

Appearance: Really pale yellow. Clear bottle can't have helped things. Poor head retention and over-zealous carbonation, leading to a completely flat beer towards the end. I'm worried about drinking this, though the danger appears only chemical, definitely not bacterial (nothing could live in this).

Smell: That nasty homebrew scum infected malt smell I also detected in Zipfer. Nothing else - no hop flavour whatsoever, just chemical. At least it's a faint smell that vaguely resembles beer, and not overpoweringly chemical!

Taste: Unpleasant. Scummy malt aroma strikes again. Would taste like beer if you were on your 30th beer of the night, after having vomited a couple of times. Otherwise there is little resemblance. Kind of tastes like some non-alcoholic beers I've had, though it's clearly 4.3% as stated on the label.

Mouthfeel: A bit frothy and solventy. Doesn't feel like real beer.

Drinkability: Even if the town water were dangerous to drink, I'd still go for that rather than this stuff. Maybe under Chinese river water-induced delirium I'd be foolish enough to drink this again.

Overall, a bad beer. Nothing premium about this whatsoever. Drink only in the name of fostering international understanding.

Nasty crap. Looked like urine. Wet cardboard, pavement, rubber and dirty water were the main flavours. I don't know why it is but pretty much every Chinese lager i've had, tastes like crap. This is no exception. Nasty clear couldn't have helped in any way to prolong its shelf life, a nasty beer.
