12oz can, served at Dadong Restaurant in eastern Beijing. Pours a slightly cloudy golden yellow body, one finger white head, fair retention, minimal lacing. Smell is cloves; not much banana ester but reasonably wheaty on the nose. A bit earthy. Flavour is a bit less complex, mostly just cloves and wheat; a slight alcohol burn permeates the entire experience. Not unwelcome, but it didn't work for me to pair this with Chinese food. I don't think drinking this on its own would make it much better. Mouthfeel is lighter bodied, slightly watery, a bit of alcohol burn with a clove-forward finish on the backend. Nothing too crazy, but a step above many other Chinese beers out there, though it pales in comparison to the German archetypes.
