Had this one on cask at BoBBiQue. It poured a beautiful jet black, with a huge, chunky tan head and a cascading body. Very nice looking. The aroma was musty, earthy, with notes of raw coffee beans and unsweetened chocolate.
You can certainly taste the espresso. It's right up front, along with roasted nuttiness, and dark chocolate. There's a bitter, dry finish. But the espresso taste is the pronounced flavor, here. My one minor gripe is the mouthfeel; it's a bit thin and watery. Outside of that, this is a very good stout and another winner from Southampton.

On cask at Bobbique in Patchogue, this amazing brew poured a deep black with a huge tan head. Wonderful retention and good lacing. Huge aromas of fresh black coffee hit the nose along with some light malt and hops. Intense flavor of roasted coffee beans explodes in the mouth as some soft chocolate and charcoal notes roll off the tongue. Some creamy vanilla in here as well. Great mouthfeel and good drinkability. Absolutely delicious and one of the best from Southampton.

Enjoyed on tap at the now departed Blind Tiger in NYC, this lovely concoction poured simply black, with a dark tan tight bubble head. Left extensive fine lacing. Rich and chewy brew, very smooth, rounded and full mouthfeel. Lots of coffee, as expected, also pleanty of dark chocolate. Dry black coffee finish, very tasty, chocolaty, coffee stout. More fine dark suds from SHMPTN.

on-tap at the blind tiger 12/10/05
sampled 12oz pour. must be on the bigger side, no abv info though.
poured very dark and shiny with a creamy, tan head of tight, thick foam.. only three or four bubbles were able to penetrate the head leaving slight imperfections in an otherwise smooth cap. the color and texture are very true to the crown on an actual espresso. amazing.
smells fragrantly of tiramisu flaked with dark chocolate, earthy dirtiness and mellow hops. kicker of oily, freshly ground espresso and vanilla beans.
tastes like espresso.. soda? the mouthfeel of coffee-stained water is there, so true to espresso form. creamy, luxurious bitterness mingled with tart, raw bean material adds such balance and complements the hops nicely. this is truly an awesome drinking experience.
crisp mouthfeel.. maybe just a bit too bubbly (i can barely find a flaw here). hops and that bean character add acidity that enriches the likeness to actual espresso. like most southampton beers, this is expertly crafted and a successful experiment of wacky craft brewing. big kudos on this masterpiece.
