Poured into a mug, the appearance was a black color with a thick two fingers foamy off white head. Slow dissipation causes some messy clingy lace. The aroma had some cocoa power, sweet dark malts, and mild ash. The flavor leaned towards the sweetness of the cocoa powder. Ashy dryness comes in acceptable sort of way. Mild ashy to cocoa powdery sort of aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. Good carbonation. ABV felt right. Some chalkiness in the feel. Overall, pretty good Irish dry stout. I didn’t mind that ashiness in it, but perhaps a bit different.

Reviewed on 6/28/08. On (nitro) tap at SPH. Pours black with an inch thick light tan head that of course persists. Aroma mostly of coffee and roasted malt, some light chocolate in there. Flavor of the same sweet roasted malt, some bitter hops. Weak palate, not very flavorful. Ugh, didn't really care for this and I think the nitro made it worse.

On tap, Nitro.
Poured a dark brown color with a small sized tan head. Lots of carbonation bubbles on the inside of the glass. Aromas of light earthiness, chocolate, roasty, light smoke, and caramel. Tastes of chocolate, roast, and caramel.

I had this beer on draft tonight @ the publick house. Seems I am the first to report on this beer. It poured very dark nearly opaque with a tan head. It smelled of toasted malts with a hint of chocolate. The flavor was nice, similiar to Guiness which is th only other irish stout I have tried but more ingridients involved, so a little more complex, certainly not the appearance of a Guiness but I assume thats patented. The mouth feel was very pleasant and I had 2 of this beer so it was definately drinkable :D Well done
