Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a light golden copper color with a cap of a little white head. Sliding lace. The aroma had some sweet grainy to doughy/breadiness with a light crisp clean grassy hops underneath. The flavor sticks to the sweet portion of the doughy/bready malts and then wraps itself around some light hops to meld into the aftertaste and finish. The feel was light bodied, extremely sessionable, with a crushability able to take down probably four growlers in a session and not feel a thing. Overall, think I liked this one and goes great with brats being shoved down my throat. Make sure that extra spicy mustard is on the brats, because that and this is great going down, but just don’t think about the next day (call your local sewer plant before you go to the toilet, just saying).

On tap at the Southampton Publick House

Note: reader beware, I thought the beer I had was labeled "Southampton Lager", but I'm worried I was mistaken because I don't see any other reviews for it. I'm posting it here for now, but if I'm wrong I'll do my best to move the review.

S - Mild, slightly floral.

A - Almost clear. A shade darker than the Southampton Montauk Light.

T - Seltzer up front as it comes packed with some nice carbonation. Light white bread in the early to mid profile. Mild orange zest.

M - Very light, almost watery body.

D - Super drinkable. The body is easy on your palate, and there's almost no trace of the alcohol. Very refreshing.

Off the tap at American Flatbread this Munich-styled beer was a golden color sliding towards the darker side of the spectrum. There was almost no head, only a tiny collar, and it left almost no lacing either. Weak. The aroma was also very subdued, hints of toasted malt were all I could pull out of it. The flavors were of toasted malt, a slightly cellar-like wood, and a little yeast. Very dry with a semi-bitter and crisp finish. The mouthfeel was a little slick and rough, thrown off by the prickly, high carbonation. The body was light/medium. If this beer were a car, the engine would be running fine but it would need body work and a paint job.

Pint glass on tap.

Poured a medium and clear yellow color with a smaller sized white head. Aromas toasted bread, lightly earthy, and a splash of citrus. Tastes of the same breadiness, grass, and had a sweetness to it. Body on the thin side.

Notes from 6/13/08.

L: Pours a golden yellow color with a medium sized and medium bodied white colored head.
S: Smells of sweet golden malt and a nice spicy/peppery hoppy finish to the nose.
T: Nice smei-sweet malt base with a spicy/peppery hoppy finish. Very much like the nose.
M: Very fresh, crisp, clean and refreshing with the right amount of carbonation.
D: Very drinkable as this could be a very good session beer.

I tasted a Southampton Golden Helles Lager. Very malty/yeasty taste. Nice light golden colour, minimal head from the tap. Brewed in the "traditional" Munich style. I found it to be crisp, and light, but the yeasty aftertaste was a turnoff. Maybe I'm not one for Lagers!

Pours a clean gold with a minimal white head. Nose is pretty clean. Flavor is well bodied with a nice earthy and grassy profile to it. The carbonation levels are good and the loquid feel has a nice body to it. Overall this is a good and even lager. Definitely nothing with a wild character to it, but still well made and even.

Poured a clear goldenrod into a pint glass, with a thin head. Aroma was muted, with hints of spices and some sweetness. There was a distinct peppery taste to the beer, which gave it a unique flavor, but I wasn't completely sold. At the end of the day it tasted slightly better than your average lager. A grassy hop profile is balanced by a generic malt backbone for a pretty by-the-numbers experience. Mouthfeel is too carbonated, but not terrible. I had enough after the first one, to be honest. Not bad, but... eh.

Poured a deep straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured a solid pale malt doughiness and an excellent peppery hop aroma.

The taste was smooth and balanced. A substatial soft maltiness and light peppery hop spiciness were detected. A strong biscuity aftertaste as well.

The moutfeel was full and crisp.

Overall a very drinkable lager. Very sessionable and a nice year round offering.

This is from a growler I filled at SPH. I drank it in a goblet. (It's all I had at the time.)

Pours a fairly clear dark straw/light gold with a one finger head of white foam. The head drops to a scant ring with no lacing on the glass. Carbonation looks light.

Aroma is really clean bready pils malt and perky spicy hops. Aromas are light and inviting.

Flavor is really clean bready pils malt, crisp, with a barely there spicy hoppiness. Sweetness is muted, but there. Aftertaste is sweet and clean pils malt and spicy hops. Pretty damn good beer.

Mouthfeel is medium body, soft carbonation, finishing sweet but yummy.

A delicious Helles style lager. Plenty of light German pils malt, the right amount of spicy noble hops, and a great finish. Look for this one!

A clean bright yellow beer. Has a small white head. The aroma is a light sweet malt with a hint of citrus in the background. The light malt sweetness starts out the taste. Which moves easily into a crisp, refreshing light and dry hop finish. I don't usually like lagers, but I like this one. I belive this would be excellent on a hot summers day.

This is kind of like Montauk light, minus the light! Golden, again, with a nice white head of foam. Aromas of German hops, bready malts, and also a bit of lemon. The taste is slightly hoppy up front with some nice hay-like malts in the middle and a bread-like, slightly dry finish. The mouthfeel is light, but refreshing, and the drinkability is really very good. Nice for the style.
