The second of my two reviews from the cask fest.
The brew is poured into my sample glass and is a clear amber color. There is a slight soft beige head for a little but this fades. The aroma is malty with some general sweet spiciness coming through. Maybe some citrus scents. The beer has a medium body and soft carbonation as cask brews do.
The flavor is caramel up front through the middle but the finish reveals the spices. There is subtle nutmeg and coriander flavors at the end. Just enough to make me wonder if I am really tasting them. This is a nice sample of a spiced ale, the spices dont completely overwelm the beer flavors. Now I hav to try some other brews from Southampton!
