This pale straw-colored beer is brewed using 50 lb. of old-fashioned stone-ground organic yellow corn grits from Lindley Mills in Graham, NC. The corn lightens the color, body, and flavor. A kiss of cascade hops adds character to this clean, dry, and crisp-flavored beer.

16oz undated can poured into a vintage bar glass at fridge temp 5.1% ABV 10 IBU per label. The beer pours bright light golden yellow with off white head. The head recedes to a pencil thin ring and scattering of tiny bubbles. The aroma is very subtle with a hint of cereal sweetness. The taste is semisweet with a touch of pale malt and corn. Minimal hop flavor or bitterness. Cleanly lagered. The mouthfeel is thin bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, excellent AAL. Light, yet flavorful with no off flavors to be found.

A: Pours a crystal clear pale to medium bright yellow in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and moderate pale golden yellow + straw yellow colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall sudsy foamy bright white head that slowly reduces to medium to large sized patch of thin film covering a little more than 40% of the surface of the beer surrounded by a large patch of very slightly mottled very thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of cereal grain malts with a light to moderate amount of corn adjunct sweetness. Light to moderate aromas of lager yeast and light aromas of herbal + pine/resinous hops.

T: Upfront there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of cereal grain malts with a light to moderate amount of corn adjunct sweetness. That is followed by light to moderate flavors of lager yeast. Finally there are very light flavors of herbal + pine/resinous hops which impart a light to moderate amount of bitterness which fades away leaving a clean finish.

M: Slightly heavier than light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly crisp upfront with a clean finish.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a pleasantly crisp + clean mouthfeel which makes it quite refreshing. Enjoyable and I could easily have a few of these - would be perfect on a hot summer afternoon when working in the yard.

L - A deep golden straw color with no apparent head when poured out of the can aggressively.
S - Some straw, honey, corn, malt on the nose.
T - Malty, low bitterness, faint hop resin, corn sweetness, some light booziness on the finish.
F - Carbonation is very low and dissipates quickly. Goes almost flat after several minutes. Slight hop stickiness on the palate.

Overall - A decent beer that’s a step up from Budweiser when comparing corn adjunct lagers. Nothing outstanding here but nothing bad, either. Good if you like low bitterness and low carbonation.
