So the style designation here says belgian pale ale, and it says it on the picture of the bottle here, but my picture of the bottle is blue and just says "citrus pale ale" on it, no mention of being belgian? Untappd seems to have the blue label all over it too.
Yellow pour, slightly cloudy, 1/2" white head, good retention. Oh shit, this is definitely a belgian pale ale, the yeast aspect is unmistakable to the learned. Well shit, what are they talking about citrus here in the name then? I guess there is a hint of Citra hop here. A hint.
Taste, oh ok, I get it, they hopped this with American hops and called it a Belgian pale ale. There is some citrus rind to it. Imagine a really bitter witbier. I taste a lot more El Dorado hops than Citra. Has a nice light malt body, appropriate carbonation. The more I drank of it and settled in, the more I liked it, I think there was just a little bit of a surprise that the yeast pushed so hard compared to the hops here.

Bottle from brewers Haven. Clear, medium golden pour, fluffy head fades to skin. Aroma focuses on the Belgian yeast, sourdough. Taste adds some of the citrus, very light, and more of the bitter variety like orange peel. Very subtle flavors throughout, add up to a pretty nice whole.

This one has orange peel added. Aroma of unidentifiable citrus. Quite yeasty tasting. There is a sweet orange marmalade taste that gradually works its way in, but the Belgian yeast leaves it with a dry finish. Cereal malt flavor, like Cheerios with a sweeter note. Light, bright mouthfeel.
I think adding citrus to beer is not always the best idea. But we're so used to the zing that orange peel adds to a Witbier. This is quite aromatic, perhaps a little flabby, but full of flavor with a tangy finish. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Elizabeth Station in Bellingham, Wash.
