At Pelican Brewing we constantly search for unique and delicious ways to explore the full spectrum of hop flavor and aroma. For Beak Bender we turned to two bold, flavorful varieties and used our proprietary dry hopping device “The Hoppinator” to rend every molecule of flavor and aroma. Bountiful quantities of Citra and El Dorado hops bring aromas and flavors reminiscent of luminous citrus and zesty orange balanced against a lean malt bill with subtle toasty notes creating an astoundingly drinkable experience. It won’t break your beak, but it might bend it a little!

Don't remember much about this beer other than the fact that was very good. I remember it had a good citrus and some stone fruit taste, but other than that I couldn't tell you anything else about it. Rated 8-2-2023

Look: Clear burnt orange with a dense off-white head that settles nicely, leaving good lacing
Aroma: Tropical fruits, citrus fruits, pear, sweet bready malt, and fir needles
Taste: Orange and grapefruit hit first, followed by pear, some peach and tropical fruit notes, some fir on the tail and nice maltiness throughout, meshing seamlessly with the hops. Great bite and medium dryness on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied, a little viscous, medium-high carbonation. Solid overall
Overall: I can dig it. Nothing crazy standout but a tasty, well-made WCIPA utilizing what is for me a unique hop (El Dorado = pear to me) flavor-wise but it works well in tandem with the Citra. Tasty and a great no-frills beer for a hop fix

after getting freight trained by the beak breaker, i was excited to see the bender, which must be a lower alcohol version or something similar. its delicious beer, a really well crafted ipa, and another killer beer from pelican, who always seems to hit on the hoppy stuff (really everything they make is good). very clean and tidy ferment here, light on the grain side, so really its the hops that shine more than anything else, citra and el dorado, lemon/lime and ripe melon are the lead notes in aroma and flavor, but there is some more generic hop grassiness and bitterness to this as well, seemingly well dry hopped, but there is a little bite as well in the finish. crisp almost like a lager, the level of refinement here is super high and it makes this seem especially high quality. more el dorado than citra to my tastes, freshness on point, should be since i picked the sixer up from their brewery to go window on the beach, and high carbonation that makes this real refreshing. as dangerously easy drinking as the beak breaker, but this one will not put you under at the same rate. killer drink sitting right out on the beach in front of the brewery taking it all in. this is worthy of being a staple ipa in my fridge.

Clear gold with three fingers of bone color head. Rings of lace form as level drops.
Smell is malty bread crust with some floral hops.
Taste is malty with dank resinous fruity hops. Grapefruit and orange zest.
Mouthfeel is medium and creamy. Finish is mildly dry and medium bitter.
Overall a fine example of a tasty West Coast IPA.

One of the Brewers at Pelican used to work in Corvallis at a place called 5th Street Growlers. I believe he was in the fermentation science program at Oregon State and if I am correct I bet he had his hands all over this..... if you work at Pelican let me know if I'm correct, great stuff guys!
