Hunting for the deepest heart of dankness, the brewers at Pelican have explored new depths of adventurous flavor and emerged triumphant with the assertive resiny, earthy pungency known as Dank. A bold blast of hop character with notes of pine tree, blackberry and stone fruit sets the stage, while malt undertones of biscuit and subtle caramel round out the flavor balance. A candied citrus impression leads to a clean hoppy finish. When all seems lost, fear not, because Our Dankest Hour will lead to flavor bliss!

Ingredients: Two-row malt, Munich malt, C60 malt, Magnum hops, Eukanot hops, Simcoe hops, Strata hops, pure ale yeast, pure coastal water.
IBU:75
Plato:17°

Assertive Dank Hop Character.
Hop flavors of Blackberry, Candied Orange and Resiny Pine.
Hints of Caramel and Toasty Malt.

Definitely a Dank beer, but not overly so, Nice malty biscuit flavor and the combination of the deep wet hop dankness citrusy flavor. Really quite good. Doesn't taste like a 7.5 ABV or 75 IBU's beer. Had two cans with dinner and after 2 cans you do realize that it is 7.5 ABV. Rated 5-1-2020

12oz canned in late October I believe (hard to read) poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint.

A: Pale gold with a fluffy off-white head that leaves a little lace.

S: Definite dank hop presence with a bready malt backbone and mild sweetness. The hop profile also has subtle impressions of berry and resin.

T: That dank hop character is there along with a mild candied orange presence and that same biscuity malt profile that now gives flavors of caramel sweetness at times.

MF: Medium-bodied with subdued bitterness and balanced sweetness throughout.

O: A tasty IPA bordering on double-IPA with a dank hop profile and significant malt backbone.

12 oz bottle dated 10/5/20 poured into a Teku on 12/20/20.

Pours a 2" creamy white head. Opaque amber color. Head is sticky and fades slowly.

Aromas of pine, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness. Slightly citrusy and bitter.

Caramel sweetness with pine flavors upfront lead to bitterness in the finish. Not much citrus or fruit in the taste.

Medium-bodied mouthfeel with a balanced carbonation. Slightly astringent rather than smooth.

A delicious hop-forward piney West Coast IPA. Great balance with malt sweetness and bitter flavors.

Overall a really nice beer. There could be more hop aroma but all of the other attributes are right there. It's been a few year since I have had a Pelican beer as they do not distribute here. This one I like. If you ever get the chance teir Pacific City location is A+++ awesome !!

surprise, surprise, another impressive ipa from pelican, these guys truly do not make a bad beer. a little more crystal malt to this one than has become the norm, more of a classic color here, some grain balance in the build, mostly clear, burnt orange undertones, a short but persistent foamy white head on top, nice looking beer with a lot of carbonation pushing up through it. aroma here is wet pine, pine sap, and gin botanicals to me, with a little candied lemon citrus pop, extremely fresh, maybe a trace of weedy character to it as well, certainly dank, but more as in forest than as in ganja here, at least to me, but i do kind of get a purple grape thing just for a second like i do from certain sativa strains. the flavor is boldly hoppy but nicely supported by the malt, any less from the grain and this would seem out of alignment i think. just a touch of sweetness and earthy cereal in the mix actually pairs very well with these hops, which are still pine forest heavy to me, slightly wintery with a christmas tree note in here, but clean and citrusy too, grapefruit now as it warms, some sticky resin sort of texture to it, pretty full bodied as they go, but it doesnt feel heavy to me, just feels robust, all the carbonation really helps keep it drinking. i think they did a great job making a beer live up to the dank part of its name, but not making the hops seem forced or anything, this is still high quality beer i want to drink, nothing cheap or trend chasing about it. i cannot wait to visit their brewery on the coast later this month!

Unknown age bottle in a pint glass. Color is dark gold amber. Carbonation is low, with great head retention and gorgeous lace. The nose is very muted, but I get some pine notes. The taste is very strongly pine forward, the rounding into floral hoppy greatness and a citrus zip cutting off a premature finish. The dank flavor and fermented fruit is definatley very strong and lies beneath the whole flavor profile, and the beer finishes mid-dry on the mouth.

This beer is a great face smacking piney funky pale. It reminds me of Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA for sure. This is a great year round hop fix, and I love it.

Man this is good. It’s truly dank but not bitter or overwhelming. Very juicy. Wet bite. Bug floral fruity hops, well balanced, not too citrusy but slight tropical notes.

Six pack of cans picked up at Total Wine in Lynnwood, Washington.
No dating on the cans. Poured in to a pint glass.

Look- Clear darker amber color, modest off-white/cream colored head that recedes fairly quickly to a thin cap of foam, moderate lacing. Moderate carbonation streaming as it sits.

Smell- Citrus (orange/tangerine and lemon), berries, apricot/peach, pungent weed and melon, caramel malt, resinous pine and floral/herbal notes.

Taste- Follows the nose well, citrus fruits, a bit of the berries, melon and peach, weed, light pine and pepper with a decent malt backbone.

Feel- Medium bodied, crisp with a lingering light bitter finish, pretty nicely balanced. Moderate carbonation on the tongue.

O- A solid PacNW IPA. I've been fairly disappointed with some of Pelican's more recent releases but this one is good. Worth checking out.

Pours dark copper, thin head and some lacing. Smells of berry, citrus and some pine. Tasted of tart fruit, orange, pine and a bit of juniper berry. Finishes dry sour grapefruit. Nice glass of beer, another nice ipa from Pelican.

6-pack bought from 7/11 in West Salem OR.
$9.99
In pouring this is indeed a traditional PNW IPA. Deep copper colour..clear..inch high frothy off white head.
In the aroma it is certainly "dank", but its balanced..pine, bud, candy sugar..etc. nice
Taste is similar..more dank.. dank for sure.
Good mouth feel..medium..heavy..good.
