PNW IPA

While we give a lot of credit to sunshine on the coast, the true Pacific Northwesterners appreciate a good storm. Crashing waves and bold IPA truly bring out the best in each other. With a pronounced hop flavor of tangerine, citrus zest and sweet pine swirling over a malty foundation, Cape Crasher brings robust flavors crashing across the palate. Inspired by the pounding waves that crest our iconic Cape Kiwanda, Cape Crasher delivers powerful waves of flavor. Join us and raise a glass to the next storm that Mother Nature – or life itself – throws at you, wherever you may be.

Pours a bronze color with small head. Don't Remember anything special about this beer other than it was good. Pelican almost always makes a good beer. Rated 7-29-2023

Pours a gold color, chill haze with a foamy white head. Smells sweet with citrus notes. Taste is sweet malt up front with soft fruit flavor to follow. A bit of a medicine flavor. Mild bitterness and slightly cloying on the finish.

Orange brown body, nice lacy head. Smell is sweet; pine resin, orange juice, and caramel malt. Taste is also on the sweet side, with upfront orange and a hint of mango, then moderately bitter pine in the body backed by caramel malt and baked bread, and finishing with more resin and orange. Medium bodied, smooth, and alcohol is detectable. Simple, classic, all around well done.

Hazy gold with three fingers of dense cream color head. Rings of lace appear as the levels fall.
Smell is orange light pine and bready malts.
Taste is orange pine stone fruit and bready malts.
Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. Finish is dry and mostly bitter.
Overall a tasty NW IPA.

a tasty new one from these guys, they always hit, especially on the hoppy stuff, although this seems somewhat less original than i have come to expect from them, even a little old school, malty in that way, more than just support for the hops, the grain lends a lot of flavor and body to this, a honey note and a baked richness that brings out zested orange and sappy pine notes from the hops and extends them through a long finish despite this not being full of residual sugar. its wintery to me, maybe because it is winter right now, but this reminds me of drinking celebration or something on christmas in a past life. good bitterness, sturdy even, and clean on the fermentation so it really stands out. there is a bright freshness to it which contributes a lot to its overall success. spruce and even juniper notes to the hops as it warms, a faint mineral profile in the grain, some spiciness too, but all real familiar and balanced. i tend to think of these guys as making timeless beers, and this is certainly that, although somewhat less exciting than others. this is a beer for drinking not thinking, which is much needed sometimes!

On tap in Meridian ID; served in an IPA glass. Beer comes softly-chill-hazed gold with a decent amount of creamy head and lacing. Has that NW malty aroma with an earthy hop profile, floral with a piney bitterness. The palate is similar with notes of caramel and toffee with a sticky bitterness, and a creamy mouthfeel. Hits those NWIPA notes that I'm familiar with, malty and fairly bitter in the hop profile.

12 oz. bottle. Part of a six pack i bought from Roth's in West Salem
$8.99 a sixer.
Glory hallelujah!. A clear copper IPA! small white head. Goes fast. Leaves nice lace.
Aroma is very old school Oregon IPA..much caramel, toffee malts and much piney/floral hops.
Taste the same as the aroma. Caramel and pine hops.
Mouth feel is actually very nice ..medium all around, feels good across the tongue..feels good.
Very nice but SOOO old style.
