Pelican Pilsner is a love note in liquid form, to you, from the Pelican brewers. It's a beer so honest and exposed every ingredient is on display in its purest form. With classic elegance and balance, the aromatic hops and toasty, bready malts interplay for a perfect palate pleaser. The distinct quaffability is off the chart, yet the complexity of nuanced flavors allows the curious to explore to another level. A lean, hoppy balance in the finish is reminiscent of the Pilsners of Northern Germany. Take a sip and fall in love with a new take on an old favorite.

My last beer on a rainy night in Idaho is a pilsner. The first beer that I have tried is from this brewery. Using a pilsner glass, I served the beer at 42 degrees. The pour created a frothy and airy head with above-average retention. The slow dissipation has left some lacing on the glass. The color is a light, straw yellow with light golden hues, measured on the Standard Reference Method (SRM) scale, with 'two' indicating a very pale color. The clarity of the beer is clear. The appearance of the beer is above average.
As I brought the glass to my nose, I was greeted by a clean hop aroma reminiscent of light florals, a hint of white pepper, and a grassy freshness. The toasted malt profile added a satisfying depth, with notes of crackers and a subtle breadiness. Another intriguing aroma was a light phenolic, not quite medicinal, but with a hint of that character. These aromas, so close to what a pilsner should be, set the stage for a delightful tasting experience.
The hop character comes out more; I taste floral, white pepper, resin, light orange, and floral blossom. The hop profile is a bit too aggressive for a traditional pilsner. The malt character comprises crackers, malty sweetness, and lightly toasted bread.
The Pelican Pilsner's mouthfeel is astringent, providing a refreshing, crisp finish that perfectly complements its light body and medium carbonation. This combination of elements creates a beer that is both satisfying and easy to drink.
The beer is refreshing to drink and a perfect choice for a summer day. I wanted more hop and malt balance, a preference that might resonate with some of you. The hop profile is not astringent like a pale ale but aggressive for a tender pilsner. The malts hold up to the onslaught of hops, but barely, a delicate balance—a refreshing, crisp summer beer.

when I poured this can into a glass it created a nice fluffy white head which quickly diminished as I raised it to my mouth. The beer has a good clean crisp refreshing flavor which continued on after I swallowed ...this beer goes down smoothly in fact I would say quickly and lingered on my taste buds even after I lowered the glass.

Clear deep gold with three fingers of white head. Splotches of lace form as the head drops.
Smell is cracker malt and herbal grassy hops.
Taste Grassy herbal hops with cracker malts. A kiss of lemon also.
Mouthfeel is light with good carbonation. The finish is dry and mildly bitter.
Overall a tasty German Pilsner. Date 06-04-21.

Look: Semi-clear darker yellow with an admirable white head that balloons up and holds at 2 fingers, slowly receding and leaving great lacing behind
Aroma: Pilsner malt, floral notes, light wafts of lemon, freshly cut grass, and soda cracker-like malt
Taste: Follows nose well but everything is much stronger and deeper overall. Heaps of flowery goodness and crackers along with kisses of lemon-lime and grass all mingling with pilsner malt. Closes with citrusy notes and more flowers
Mouthfeel: Full but light, medium-high carbonation, very crisp and clean throughout as well as on the finish, which has a touch of dryness
Overall: This is tasty stuff. I really enjoy these folks’ American take on a pilsner (Five Fin) so definitely wanted to give this a try and glad I did as it’s delicious. Good floral and citrus notes along with great cracker-led malt and all with a solid feel helps bring me into a springtime mood on this nice late winter day

this is at least the second pils type i have had from these guys, cool that they make a few different ones. this is very fresh and flavorful, drinkable but not as light as some, and nicely proportioned, another exceptionally well made beer from these guys, who pretty much always deliver. its got a slightly richer looking honey color to it, good clarity and a lot of carbonation from the tap. it smells less hoppy than others in the style, but has an herbal character that makes it seem right on for spring here. the malt really drives it in the flavor, earthy and slightly cooked to me, definitely not all that light, but its also never sweet, so it works. lots of minerals, dry cereal character, mellow breadiness. the yeast is familiar and minimal, clean in its work here, this seems well conditioned. a little more body here but its offset by a ton of carbonation and a nice low alcohol content, this feels lively and bright, and still has plenty of refreshment value. these guys have really demonstrated that they can do everything well, and this was a joy to drink. a nice pairing with a spicy fried chicken sandwich, great match!
