Pours a nice golden color with a strong 2 finger head. Not much aroma, but a slight maltiness and no real hop bite. Nice mouthfeel and taste. Nice refreshing light beer. From a friend at dinner. Rated 9-15-2022

on draft at the brewpub.

hazy medium yellow in color, white head. Fairly mild on the normal weizen banana yeast esters, which is fine with me. medium bodied.

Taster at Growler Guys. Orange golden pour, ring of white head. Aroma is banana, bubblegum and clove. Taste is all of those plus some fresh baked bread. Aroma and taste are right on, body is a near miss.

Had on tap. Cloudy yellow pour with two fingers of white foam. Citrus and bubblegum aromas in a simple nose. Taste adds wheat itself and a dash of clove, but it still rings sweet for me with the bubblegum and citrus running away with it. Feels bright, chewy, sneaky thick and cool, but wheat textures make too little of an impact. Solid wheat beer that could use more ruggedness

a nice light summery drink here from pelican, loving that some new ones are coming around from them. this is definitely a different take on a hefeweizen, less yeast driven and maybe a little more hoppy than is traditional, quite light bodied but not watery, real bubbly and on the dry side so it works for warm weather, but its also relatively robust in flavor as they go with the extra hop pop at the end, so it sort of scratches both itches at once for me. i guess they dont all have to be german yeast forward to be good, and the element is definitely not invisible here, its just subtle compared to the earthy fresh wheat and the fruity hops that this has in it, things like cantaloupe and orange blossom and even some finishing bitterness which i am not accustomed to in these. its a little sweet in the center maybe, but not at all on the swallow. a light green banana thing to the yeast marries well with the freshness of the wheat, and i do get some minerals coming through that seem right for the water profile of a classic hefe. a thoughtful recipe, modern more than classic, but not forced or overdone, stands out from the crowd i think, and should do well for them this summer. cool food beer too. fingers crossed that i am able to check out their brewery finally when i am out on the oregon coast next week, it has long been a target beer destination of mine, hoping to make it happen!

12oz bottle

Pours two massive fingers of fluffy, creamy white head into my Boston Lager glass. Retention is immaculate, with the entire head remaining unscathed after a few minutes. Lacing will no doubt be wonderful as well. Body is a cloudy orange, with an insane amount of bubbles coming up. Looks amazing so far.

Nose is absolutely wonderful. Huge dose of fresh baked bread, some citrus, a little floral, a small sweetness, and a touch of grassy hops. This is Perfect.

Flavor also delivers extremely well. The malt character here is just so full, big bread, some caramel, very faint noble hop flavor. Those supporting flavors aren’t quite as big as they were on the nose, so that will bump it down a little bit, but this is still very very nice.

Carbonation is medium-low. Body drinks pretty light. Sweetness is elevated for the style, over medium. Bitterness is low, but shows up briefly throughout. Despite the overall sweet nature of this, it’s definitely not cloying, and it has a light and pretty refreshing feel to it. Solid mouthfeel.

Drinkabiltiy is great. This is light and really tasty.

Appearance turned out near perfect. I lost a little bit of head, but the damn thing tried to hang out all the way down. Lacing was beautiful.

Overall a wonderful surprise here. I haven’t had a good American Hef in….probably ever, I just thought they were bad. This pulls off being malty and somewhat sweet, while remaining sessionable and appropriate.

Look: Murky orange in color with a fast-forming head that swells to a pillow and holds, leaving sticky lacing on the glass
Aroma: Wheat bread, a little clove, cantaloupe, some citrus, and light wafts of bubblegum
Taste: Citrus notes and wheat start it off with some lingering orange, lemon, and melon flavors present. Wheat bread re-enters the frame and joins the steady dose of citrus before some light clove notes appear for the finish
Mouthfeel: Full, very soft throughout, medium-high carbonation, and a soft, silky finish
Overall: I dig it. This is an interesting take on a Hefeweizen but totally fits the descriptor on the bottle of “American-style” as the typical banana/clove notes are almost completely replaced by citrus and a little melon. I enjoyed it but definitely isn’t a traditional Weissbier. Wheaty, citrusy, and refreshing – what’s not to like. Nice low ABV to. This will be in the rotation this spring and summer

12 oz bottle from Safeway in Canby OR.
part of a mixed six..$8.99
Pours a cloudy orange with a great looking, thick and creamy white head.
Not much of an aroma at all..some wheat bread , bit of lemongrass and some slight spice.
Taste lemon , bready , very slight spice and thats about it.
Mouth feel is very nice . Smooth and semi thick.
Old style American Wheat like Widmer Hefe..kinda dull to be honest.
